Pics from the Star Trek Exhibit in Phoenix AZ

I was asked to be a guest at the new Star Trek Exhibition at the Arizona Science Center.
Here are the first set of images:

The first thing you saw as you walked towards the entrance to the exhibit was my table

and then you saw Paul Clarke's awesome EMCE figures

They even had a drawing set up to win a copy of my book

A BIG thanks to Paul (Dr. Mego) Clarke for sending some EMCE figs for a special display at the Trek exhibit

This poor guy in the red shirt (I told him the red shirt history) would take your picture against a green screen as soon as you entered the exhibit.
Later in the lower section of the exhibit in Quarks bar/gift shop you could purchase the photo if you wished, which had been computer created adding you onto the transporter pad.

The first display you would see was 4 screen used costumes: Khans Wrath of Kahn outfit, a TNG outfit missing it's communicator, the outfit that James Cromwell wore as Zefram Cochran and an Engineering uniform from TMP -

Capt. Kirk: "Is there anyone on this ship, who even remotely, looks like Satan?"
Mr. Spock: "I am not aware of anyone who fits that description, Captain"
Capt. Kirk: "No, Mr. Spock, I didn't think you would be"

On day two I was able to get some pictures inside the exhibit

Capt. Kirk: "Is there anyone on this ship, who even remotely, looks like Satan?"
Mr. Spock: "I am not aware of anyone who fits that description, Captain"
Capt. Kirk: "No, Mr. Spock, I didn't think you would be"

This was the shooting model of the saucer section as was seen crashing nose first on the planet in Generations

It was a dream come true when I was able to sit in Kirk's Command chair

      You gotta love the props

I really wanted to hold these TOS beauties in my hands, if for even a few seconds :(

Looking at the actual Kirk movie uniform up close, I noticed some details that most fan made uniforms I have seen don't have

I took more pics of many of the uniforms, props and ships than you see posted here

Picard's chair was actually very comfortable

But it still doesn't come even close to sitting in Kirk's chair

The display screens were real and had actual working graphics showing diagnostics and other ships info..

Here I am covering for Worf as he had to take a potty break.

They had a generic space background with the stars zipping by showing on the main view screen...until the ship suddenly dropped out of warp and as it showed us approaching a planet some company showed up. I was like, Whoa, where is the shields up button...

I then decided I would go down to engineering. The warp core pulsed and even the display screens worked.

This is the full scale Scorpion ship from Nemesis.

The engines pulsed red. There was a lot of detail in this full scale prop..

Even the interior screens and displays inside lit up..

The TNG Sickbay was very cool. Of course Worf is in the wrong uniform since he never served on Voyager LOL

Some other exhibit visitors down in engineering

Neat, is this a travelling exhibit or something set up just at that museum?

Wow! Neat pics. Thanks for sharing your experience. Without a doubt some memorable moments to savor. I'm very hopeful this new Trek film will bring back the magic that has been gone for quite a while.

Lucky dog! You got to sit in the "Big Chair"

Lo there do I see my Father.
Lo there do I see my Mother and my Sisters and my Brothers.
Lo there do I see the line of my people back to the begining.
                    Lo they do call me.
They bid me take my place among them.

Yes, it is a traveling exhibit and it is currently here in AZ until May 10 2009 which is a few days after the scheduled premier of the new Trek movie:

                        ARIZONA SCIENCE CENTER

I took lots of pics and even shot some video that I will try and get up on youtube.

Wow! That's awesome! Even better than the Star Trek Experience in Vegas, 'cos you can sit in the chair and pretend to be working the controls! Thanks for sharing!
