They better not have a TEEN BEAT-like photo session to promo it!!!!
"No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris Mannix

They started showing new shorts with the characters in costume on Boomerang, inbetween shows. I guess it was a teaser for this.

I never saw this series until we got Boomerang 7 years ago. I was surprised to find the Danger Island segments were directed by Richard Donner! And some of the scenes with the characters at amusement parks were filmed at Cincinnati's Coney Island, which later became King's Island. For years, King's Island had a kids section of the park called Hanna-Barbera Land. It was filled with HB themed rides, characters in costume, and toys.

Sung to the tune of the Tra-la-la song:

why why why, why why why why
why why why, why why why why?
          one banana, two banana, three banana, four;
can't they think of any new ideas anymore?

          Tra-la-la, la-la-la-la
          Tra-la-la, la-la-la-la
OK now try and get that song out of your head.

The Banana Splits was my favorite show as a kid...I absolutely couldn't wait to see each episode and its reruns.

I think a new show for the kiddies will be great.

                  ....uh....

                  >can't they think of any new ideas anymore?

I believe the answer is "no."

At least it's not the dark, gritty version; where Drooper and Snork get revenge on the Sour Grapes gang for killing their partners in a slow-mo, montage shootout....

                  I should be quiet.

This makes me laugh 'cos years ago I found the book "Generation Ecch!" which had comics by Evan Dorkin in them, and he refrenced an updated "Banana Splits" movie throughout as a sort of pinnacle of all that's wrong with the world.

Is this the version where Beagle goes back in time and creates a parallel Banana Splits...
                    It's all good!

                      The official website.

                      The Banana Splits
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Brain, you are going to make me, break-out my tapes of the complete original BS run and watch them all over again. Like I did in the beginning of October when I was off work for a week and stayed home.

I always liked the Banana Splits....makes me want to grab a bowl of Kellogg's cereal and sit down and have a marathon watching my old VHS tape. Nice to see a revival....just as long as they don't make them ninjas or something like that.

But seriously, I agree...give me the originals! I miss when TBS would show these late at night!
