    I have read the book and just watched the movie.

    Both the book and movie are geared toward females. They like Edward because he is every girl's fantasy (at least that's what they tell me). Not much gore....mostly a teenage love story.

    My daughter wanted to read the book and I read it first to make sure it was age appropriate (she is only 11). After giving her the green light; she read it very fast and I took her and a friend to the movie. It was mostly female and younger couples (there were a couple dads like me with their tween daughters and friends).

    I had to listen to a few people ooh and ahh the first time the actor that played Edward appeared on screen.

    My daughter said she liked the book a lot more.

      So;

      For those of you who aren't 14 year old girls:

      If 'Twilight' Was 10 Times Shorter And 100 Times More Honest | Cracked.com

      Some harsh language, but a lot of good points. My fave:

      "So, the next generation of young women are currently flocking to see a female lead starring in a movie by a female director based on a bestselling book by a female author, and in this movie the main character wants to become completely submissive and self-sacrificing for a male."

      Or:

      "KRISTEN STEWART
      You really are a vampire! Does that mean that garlic, stakes, and sunlight kill you?

      ROBERT PATTINSON
      Don't be stupid. All of that lore is far too interesting for this movie. Being a vampire just means I get superpowers. It's like being Spider-Man, but sexier. Also, I sparkle in the sunlight."
