New email scam targeting eBayers - "Message from eBay Member..."

    Hey all -

Wasn't sure if this was the best forum for this. Or if it had been discussed before.

This is a first for me - got an email to my account linked with eBay entitled "Message from eBay Member Regarding Item #112688975" which at first blush appears to be an eBay message from member "pacific-real-estate". Wow, their "feedback" is over 12,000!

Anyway, the message asks "Hello, Have you decided yet ?"

Ignore the fact that eBay item numbers have more than nine digits. Also, ignore that man behind the curtain. And definitely ignore the nonexistent seller and made up item number.

I'm sure you've guessed the shocking twist ending - attempting to answer directs you to a spoof eBay site where it asks your login information.

Reported it to eBay, thought I'd share here.

I guess PayPal spoof emails are passe.

Been a while since I had any spoof emails from eBay or Paypal. Spam on the other hand

I particularly enjoyed the threatening tone mixed with compassionate plea I noticed on one recently

This is the last time I send the money in advance to people like you. It's been 4 weeks and no answer. You stole my daughter's birthday money you thief. This won't end like this I will contact eBay and Paypal and you'll go to jail.

I didn't get my first eBay spoof mail until I signed up with GMail. Funny thing is,my eBay account isn't even with them.
