Songs and themes that rip each other off

Ever notice a song may sound like another ?
Sometimes enough that you'd think there should have been a lawsuit filed.
    I'll start.

    Theme From Midnight Cowboy
YouTube - John Barry- The Midnight Cowboy Theme

Theme From James Bond's, You Only Live Twice
YouTube - You Only Live Twice Opening Theme

The sythesizer/guitar riff in Steve Miller's "Swingtown" and the theme to "In Search of" are VERY similar.

Quite a few songs out there today that are like that. Way too many for me to remember and list.

John Fogerty, lead singer and songwriter of Creedence Clearwater Revival, was sued for sounding too much like John Fogerty of CCR.

There is a Pearl Jam song that IMHO, bares more than a resemblance to Led Zepplin's "Going to California". Can't remember the name or the album of the PJ song.

Yes,that was totally stupid. If I'm not mistaken the judge finally told the record company they were idiots and through it out of court.

How about that new song from kid Rock ,the sweet home Alabama one.It sure sounds like the beginning of warren zevon's werewolves of London to me.
It screws me up everytime I hear it I think cool werewolves of London, but no its kid rock.

I always thought Nirvana's Come as you are bass line was very similar to Adam Ants desperate but not serious bass line but slowed down

Definitely has Werewolves of London mixed in with Sweet Home. But I think he admits to sampling both.

Speaking of which, my brother-in-law, who is a HUGE Skynrd fan, pointed out that The Red Hot Chili Peppers' "Californication" stole the base-line from Sweet Home. And it is indeed quite similar.
