It's not that complicated and it's stuff we all know already. Two main things, I cut fastfood out of my life completely. I used to grab a quick burger at lunch because it was easy, now I pack. Just plain old sandwich and chips. Then I started walking 3 miles a day. Those are the main things. I've also stopped going back for 2nds at dinner, backed off the bread at dinner (I love bread with dinner, but hey, somethings gotta give!) and I cut back about half on the diet pop. There's no calories in it, but I heard that it does something anyway that helps slow down your body from burning calories.
There are a few other little things, pages I took from Flynne's book. Just making minor little changes each week. Taking the stairs instead of the elevator, etc... It was coming off at a rate of 10-12 pounds a month. It's slowing now, but if I can take off another 20 or so, I'll be about as thin as I'm ever going to get.
My goal is to be able to change my custom me from a fat body to a standard T2.
I still have those bad habits, but I'm starting to baby-steps some things like phasing out Coke Zero (like you said, no calories but things in there like salt and other artificial stuff are no-no's) and replacing it with mineral waters like Perrier (which still has a little sodium but way less than diet sodas)...I'm just so hooked on the fizz...lol.
I still go to fast foods but not like before. Before I use to go fast food joints almost everyday...now I've cut back to about twice a week...but I want to phase that out too.
You are right about breads...I have the bad habit of eating breads with practically every meal...lol...I gotta cut down on breads.
The exercise part is where I'm having a lot of trouble...no...it's not because I do try...I do...but my nerve-damaged legs are really hard-pressed to perform at an aerobic level...I'm still trying to do my best on that regard.
But forget all that for now...Thanksgiving is coming...lol.

AWESOME on the fitness. Less junk +proper amount of Good food +exercise. Sounds like you are doing the only diet that has been proven to work. -The only one I endorse.Leave a comment:

That is fantastic Dave. Keep it up. I gained about 20 pounds over the past few years and took it off in the last six months. Been hitting the gym fairly regularly again and back to running a few times a week.
The older you get the harder it seems to maintain. It can be done though.
Proud of you brother.
You gotta post the before and after pics, when you hit your goal weight.Leave a comment:

Thanks all! Much appreciated. As the old song says "another year older and deeper in debt"
No Mego birthday goodness this year, spent all my money remodeling my bathroom (which I finally finished up) and buying new clothes (lost 50 lbs since June so nothing fit anymore) so while I didn't get any new toys this year, the bathroom project is no longer hanging over my head (which is gift enough!) and I'm giving myself a new more fit body, (although I still got a little ways to go on that one) so I'm not doing all that bad for an old man.Leave a comment:

Happy birthday Dave, and congrats on losing that weight. That's the best reason for having to buy some new clothes.Leave a comment:
