    Circuit City's Black Friday ad

Just got a listing for Circuit City's Black Friday ad. Looks like they'll be having a butt load of DVDs on sale. http://www.blackfriday.info/sales/ci...friday-ad.html

With the link you'll also be able to see other sales as well.

All the stores in Metro Atlanta are in the process of closing. Company is in bankruptcy.

Of course when you make 100% of your operating profit from extended warranty sales its no wonder that your company will go bankrupt!

In all, Circuit City is closing 155 stores and abandoning 12 U.S. markets. That represents about 17 percent of its work force and 22 percent of its U.S. stores.

Another 565 Circuit City stores will remain open in the United States.

The $11.3 billion chain was unable to maintain enough credit to stock its stores for the holidays at the same time that slow consumer spending cut into sales, the company said Sunday.

Davidowitz, however, believed Circuit City’s issues started 15 years ago when it founded CarMax. Circuit City was the largest consumer electronics retailer.

Circuit City said the stores it is closing generated approximately $1.4 billion in net sales in the last fiscal year, but on average had lower net sales, lower gross profit margin and were unprofitable when marketing expenses were compared to store results.
Too many toys. Not enough space!

Theres a Circuit City near me and that Place is bad. They never had any of the new stuff and everything was always misplaced. I stopped shopping there almost 3 years ago.

Not exactly anything earth shattering on this black Friday listing. Guess they're just trying to survive the year. Best Buy has deals like this in their regular sales flyers every week.

All the Circuit Cities in my area are closing. I think there's 11 or 13 stores. Personally I liked when they would have the 3.99 or 4.99 sales on DVDs cuz then I could take their ad to Best Buy and get them price-matched. You may ask why would I do that? Well, since they NEVER had any of them (except the really crappy movies) when they were on sale. And when I asked for a raincheck for the sold-out DVDs, one guy gives me one and the next time I ask, they tell me they don't give rainchecks!
Their customer service (and I use the term loosely) sucked. Try to find an employee in there when you have a question. Try to find one that actually knows anything about the products (even rarer). Try to find something in their ad ACTUALLY in the store (meaning in stock). Try calling on the phone to ask a question. Try not burning up when you get put on eternal hold...and then disconnected.
Try finding an OCCUPIED register when you are ready to check out.
Basically they put theirselves out of business.
I even wrote to them and voiced the very same complaints I just listed here. Know what their response was?
Yep, nothing. No response. So it's no surprise to me at all.
I will just miss their cheap DVD sales that I could price-match at Best Buy. Plus less competition means BB can run the roost and rake us over now. Hopefully when the economy picks up again there will be some renewed competition for BB. I don't care for monopolies.

I am one that is truly happy these guys will eventually go out of business. not so much because of people losing their jobs especially the foot soldiers who work in the stores for crappy pay and virtually no training.

Two years back there was an article written about Circuit City's bad management and how they were cutting jobs and screwing their workers. I can see why the worker's didn't care. no pay, not enough support during shifts. I would never see a cashier in my local CC....it was a Joke. I stopped giving them my business after reading that article.

I hope they bite the big one this Holiday season..

Cheap Dvd's can now be found anywhere....I personally think the public is becoming hip to not buy when the Dvd first comes out.......If you wait it out. It usually get's marked down.

I agree! Those prices are nothing special. Also all around their sales are not impressing me. I would think some cool sales will pop up at stores right after the holidays.

My intent on posting this here was not to draw attention to Circuit City. I was trying to post a link to a site that is posting Black Friday sales. I think my mistake was linking directly to the Circuit City ad and not to the site itself.

No biggie or harm done, just some opinions. I prefer Best Buy myself but would buy from Circuit City. Just didn't see anything on that particular BF sales listing, which surprised me a bit based on CC's current status. I figured they'd pull out all the stops to draw in customers.
