    Lone Ranger 75th Anniversary

    From a press release...

Entertainment Rights (ER) and Genius Products celebrate the diamond anniversary of The Lone Ranger with the release this week of The Lone Ranger 75th Anniversary Collector's Edition, a 12-disc DVD box set. The DVD release includes the complete first and second season of the TV series (78 episodes from 1949 and 1950) starring Clayton Moore (the Masked Ranger) and Jay Silverheels (Tonto), much of which has been digitally re-mastered, and an extra DVD that includes three episodes from the 1960s animated series, a classic Lassie episode featuring The Lone Ranger, and an original radio broadcast and script. The release also includes an 88-page commemorative book, episode guide and comic book and photo reprints. To support the box set debut, Dynamic Forces, in partnership with ER, releases The Lone Ranger #14 comic book and a special oversized publication of cover art from the new The Lone Ranger comics 1-14, as well as Volume II of the graphic novel The Lone Ranger, trading cards, resin statues, lithographs etc. Additionally, ER's The Lone Ranger live events continue across the US at US Railroad attractions.

That's cool but I am still miffed about all the years when Clayton wasn't allowed to don a LR mask and would appear with the rose elvis glasses. he was tremendous

Sounds pricey. What's the sugg price?
Always loved the LR. When did the color episodes start? I'm assuming these are B&W?

I've seen it as high as $119.00 for the set. It covers the first 2 seasons, which were black and white, 78 episodes.

The next 52 episodes (Season 3) were the ones with John Hart wearing the mask because of a contract dispute with Clayton Moore.

Moore returned for Season 4 (52 episodes) and Season 5 (30 episodes)...only the last season is in color I believe....

It's available online for as low as $75.

Check some of the DVD comparison sites.

My gut however, tells me this set may fall in price before too long.

Wow, I love the Lone Ranger! Too bad that it's not the entire series. It still sounds like it's well worth the money. Heck you get a book with it, as well. Here's to hoping the forthcoming motion picture is as good.
