I did a similar thing years ago at a store near my house. They had really cheap Nintendo games in a display at the front of the store, like 5 bucks on clearance. I found a game I had been looking for and then discovered I had forgotten my wallet. There were some kids looking so I took the game and hid in another section of the store while I went home for some money. When I walked outside I got busted by security for shoplifting. I had to let them search me to prove I hadn't stolen the game. He said next time ask a clerk to hold it for me.
