Can you please explain what "trunks or treat" is? I've never heard of it.

Churches around here do a Safe Halloween for the kids. Usually during the day or early evening. Members arrive and decorate their car trunks, Vans or pickups. They try to not be super scary. Than the young kids (12 and under) gather and go from Trunk to Trunk gathering candy and trinkets. Ours also had Hotdogs, chips and fruit punch and 6 tables at which to make crafts. Lasted from 6PM to 7:30. The kids had a blast. My 4 year olds church pre-k program ran from 11AM-Noon.

Kids get to dress up and hangout. Parents get to chat with one another. In todays day and age its a safe way to celebrate. (They take the Tricks out of it!)

Parents are encouraged to dress up also!
