    I hate the Metric system

What's up with US cars still having secondary metric system printing under the MPH printing ?

How come when I talked to my younger nephews, sometimes they mention measurements in CM's ?

When will a gallon of gas not be a gallon anymore ?

    Listen people,

The metric system is creeping in slowly -- undercover.

Don't let it continue any further -- or the next thing you'll find yourself drinking tea and calling football "American football"

Oh man, I love the metric system. It's intuitive, and logical, especially for distance measuring. No problem. I still have some trouble with liquid volumes.

Hey you're right though, last week I took a break from my usual coffee and drank tea all week. I love Futbol (soccer) anyway and always have. Crap, I think I might be European.

      embrace it you dinosaurs!

It's been about 28 years or so since we did, most people I know are versed in both metric and imperial.

I do so much overseas that everything I deal with at work is in grams and kilos. 455 grams in a pound, 28 grams in an ounce, 22.75 kilos in a 50 lb box. I really don't see the need for two systems. Really wouldn't care which one they used. Don't see the advantage of switching though. Way too many stupid people in the US to think they could handle a change like this.

The metric system is intuitively more logical.

In fact, I distinctly remember there was a big push back in the early 1980's that the U.S. was converting and teachers were scrambling trying to teach us kids not only the metric system but to start using it in our everyday lives but adults simply would not convert.

The same thing is going on with currency. Paper money is inferior to coins. Coins last way longer than paper money and many countries in Europe regularly use coins in larger denominations than we do here in the U.S. The U.S. has tried unsuccessfully with the Susan B. Anthony Dollar, the Sachakawega dollar, and now the President coins but they always end up as fodder for collectors. Rarely does anyone use a Presidential $1 coin to pay for an item and I would be willing to be that a clerk would look at me funny if I handed one to them for payment.

Solutions to both are simple. Stop printing paper 1 dollar bills. They will go away. Make commercial transactions in imperial measurements illegal. They will go away. That is how other nations tackled these issues. That's why you can't get a quarter pounder in France mes amis.

The metric system is more logical, but I can't accurately gauge size that way...I can't imagine weights and measures at all in the metric system.

Just imagine, if there was no more Imperial System, we'd be calling Mego's 19 cm action figures ...
                  That's just wrong.

There would be no more inchworms

                    They'd be 2.8cmworms

There's no way i'm going to start calling them 2.8cmworms

Those metric lovers can go back to Russia for all I care

Who uses paper or coins any more anyways? I use plastic more than anything.

I'm with you on this one, Mike...I too hate the metric system.

I lived in Mexico for about seven years (7-14)...and I never embraced it.

...and you are so on the money about Megos...8 inch is the way to go. 19 cm? Thanks but no thanks.
