A guy who winds up playing Cheney in the latest Oliver Stone bomb ought not to cancel out on conventions. It's been quite a while since he can claim to even be a B-lister. Not that I don't like the guy, I do.

I don't understand all this "devaluing" of Dreyfuss' career.

The guy starred in AMERICAN GRAFFITI and a couple of Speilberg's
biggest movies--- and as if that wasn't good enough he's still working
      with prominent directors.

Maybe he'd really give a crud about these conventions if he was as
desperate in his career and his career legacy as you guys are making
      him out to be.

      Apparently...he isn't.

I still consider him a good A -list actor.
What I don't get is why he'd alienate his fans by dangling a carrot in front of their faces time and time again, and then canceling only days before the event, time and time again. This can happen once or twice, but not six times in a row.
Some fans actually book trips and hotels, simply to meet the people they admire. In my case, Wolfie was so kind as to try and get me the Dreyfuss autograph on two separate occasions, both of which were canceled days before the event. I had shipped him items to sign (costing me money), and Stewart was so kind as to ship them back to me at his own expense (costing him).
A good lesson was learned here: I won't waste my time anymore on pursuing this. Plenty of more people out there that I admire, AND honor their commitments.
          Like Wolfie....
Hey, maybe I should get HIS autograph?

That's all from me on this...

As far as THAT goes^^^ I'd be angry with Dreyfuss and I personally
think (after reviewing the context here) that anybody angry with Dreyfuss
for his shenanigans is 100 percent in the right.

            However...

I saw all this devaluing of Dreyfuss' career and career stature in 2008
going on---and I was heavily questioning it.

It's difficult for a former A/B lister to stay at the height Dreyfuss is in 2008
and yet he's doing well for himself---which probably has something to
do with said shenanigans---if he wasn't as engaged right now, I'd think it'd
be a bit different when it came to convention appearances...

---again, though, it's no excuse for flaking so much.

Surely Richard Dreyfuss is a bigger celebrity than some two-bit actor who starred in one season of something...30 years ago...and nothing else ever since, lol.

But considering the fact that a con like Collectormania gets tons of visitors, do the math. The actors then take the autograph money.

An inside source told me some LOTR actors sold 6.000 autographs.
multiply by £20. So that's something like $150.000 they take home, for a two-day gig?

I know, actors sometimes get millions for films, but still, a nice bit of change...

                  I agree.
Great actor, still is, but he should just NOT do conventions.

I'd love to pull planes with my teeth, but refrain from doing so. My dental plan won't cover it....
