Maryland just beat another top 25 team....Wakeforest 26-0.

They are playing N.C. State this weekend so really no way for them to break into the top 25 for a while even if they continue winning.

Florida being 10 is really bugging me.

I am a big ten fan but Penn State has played nobody.
I think they get their first loss next week against OSU (who has one crushing loss to then #1 USC)
It is nice that OSU will move up the rankings as a result but even being an OSU alum I have a hard time seeing them as a top 10 team this year.

But this - like the previous 2 seasons - doesn't have teams as #1 or top ten on merit but rather by default.

Florida will move up (providing they win this coming week). It's just this past weekends off week that they dropped down.
PSU will get tested this weekend and we'll see just how good they are or not. It should be a good game between Georgia and LSU and we'll see who will drop even further after that one.

lol, Florida plays in the SEC. SEC is second to none.

again- i need to say i think osu is ranked too high as well but OSU 2-1 against ranked opponents (67%) - they have a 89% overall win ratio

fla 0-1 (0%) against ranked opponents -83% overall win ratio

as far as SEC being great - 4 ranked teams, big ten 4 ranked teams. but i will concede that the top 3 teams in the sec seem to have earned their spot. Penn State State has had the easiest sechedule of the 8 ranked teams and hasn't lost but...
the lower ranked big ten teams are prob deserving of their spot but they are in the bottom of the rankings

but this goes back to the fact that it is hard to find a team deserving of their ranking this year. they all move up on default because others are that much worse.
---or is it that the playing field has been evened out in recent years - and if so why? is title 9 finally taking it's toll as men's scholarships are limited? top players leaving for pros? something else?
