Hard to fold a set for sure. Eh, what's 10 grand anyway? I'm sure you made that up in the cash game right?

I think I'd rather play the $1000 or $1500 tourneys myself. Smaller field, smaller cost. Smaller payout, but I'm pretty conservative.

Well played hand. Anyone would have done the same thing with what you were holding and it just came down to luck on that one.

A couple of people PM'd me to ask how I made out so I figured I just fill in anyone who's the least bit interested.

    Not good.

I started at noon with 20,000 in chips. I played until 1:35 AM when I busted out. I was holding my own for the most part of the tournament. Pretty much staying around 20,000. Winning a bit and losing a bit. The blinds were 400-800 when I was down to 14,500. The player in first position (chip leader at the table) raised $2,200. One player called before me and I called in the small blind with pocket 10's. The flop came out J 10 8. I flopped a set and raised $5,000. The initial raiser folded and the following player put me all in instantly. I was hoping he had queens or eights. Was sure he didn't call $2,200 with queen/nine for the straight. I called and low and behold he had Jacks and my tournament life was over. That hand has been in my head for the past week but I'm pretty much over it. I have no regrets and played exactly how I would have played if I had to do it again.

All in all it was a great experience and I will never forget it. Although I only lasted 13 and a half hours, they were some of the most exciting hours of my life.

The bout between me and Hugh or the Poker Tourney?

Actually, ESPN will be covering the whole tournament from beginning to end and will air it a few months later. The final table will be televised live on Pay Per View.

I actually won a few $100 tournaments at casinos in CT but would never have the money to play in a tournament of this nature. Good luck, I'll be rooting for you.
