It ain't cheap (after all, we are taking about Fox Blu-rays here. This studio likes to price them higher than anyone else, just like when they started making DVDs back in the day) but I'm looking forward to buying the set. Of course, I always wait for reviews first, just to make sure there are no transfer screw ups. I really hope Fox did a great job on the HD transfers, and the extended cuts of Conquest.. and Battle... are a very welcome addition.

It's about freakin' time! I have the older DVD letterbox set and it's disappointing to watch now since it's not widescreen enhances and I have to use the zoom feature to fill the TV which makes it look bad. To get these in HD finally, is just so cool!

I hate to spend more than $20 for a movie. That set is all the movies, but it is a bit high.

I'm trying to take a stand about buying the same movie 4 times in my lifetime but why did they have to dangle the extended cut of Conquest? Grrrrrrrrrr!

I finally broke down and bought a Sony Blu-ray player the other day...$279 at Amazon and I had $125 in gift certificates.

Looking forward to see Iron-Man in Blu-Ray and see what regular Dvd's look like using the upconversion.

Blu ray DVD's do look amazing,if it wasn't cause I have such a large collection of regular DVD's I would've been buying them all

They're using the "original cut" of CONQUEST as their draw card, the same way they initially used the RETURN series as the draw to the "ape head" collection... Yeah, they're SOBs especially since they're not even going to release CONQUEST (or the others) as individual standard DVDs...

I have the original 6 DVD boxed set -- (6th disc is the Roddy documentary)

                      That's good enough for me.

                        >they're SOBs especially since they're not even going to release CONQUEST (or the others) as individual standard DVDs...

                        See the first refrence:

5 Innovative Ways Hollywood Is Screwing You Over | Cracked.com

This sort of thing is REALLY bothering me, since the focus is becoming distribution over content. They'll keep selling us the same movies over and over if they can. Special edits, lost scenes, commentary, better production, anniversary set, remake, remake with lost scenes, remake with commentary from the original producer, remake of remake, remake with interactive alternate endings....

The music industry is the one to watch for trends, since music moves a lot faster than movies or tv. And the whole CD burning/file share thing scared the poopie out of the music execs back in the 90's. Ever since there's been an increased effort to get a lock on distribution and formats. (Piracy becomes a moot point if you have to buy a new player every year.) See the #1 point from the article for more....

And while this goes on the actual product becomes increasingly disposable. The music, or movie, or tv show isn't nearly as important as being the only one that can sell it to the public. Who cares if a movie is unwatchable, since it'll make all it's money the first weekend. Before anyone knows it's unwatchable. (Note how fast the turnaround rate for movies is. The original Star Wars played for almost a year around here. Is Batman still playing?) It's the 50's all over again; but without the imagination and daring, since you can create whatever you want by changing the skins on some preprogrammed CGI vectors. (Would Frank Castle approve, or cry?) Worse, the high turnaround means you NEED a huge volume of films in production. Which means cutting back on production and apathy from the crews. (Bollywood produces a zillion films a year; and they're all damned near the same. It's not by accident.)

Since most people are pretty apathetic about their entertainment it sort of becomes a moot point. 2 hours of eyeball massage is what most people want. "I just wanna turn my brain off and watch something." Or they watch due to some weird psychological inertia.

                        "I LOVE Arnie films!!!!"

                        "Why?"

                        "..... SHUT UP!"

Ah, it's always been that way. Some people love movies (like me!), but most people seem to see a movie as a way to kill two hours, that's it. Watch it, turn off your brain and then forget about it later. I used to work in a video store and saw that attitude all the time. As a movie lover, that drove me nuts. I lost count of how many times I heard something like "Uhhh, did we see this movie before?" I remember every single movie I see, even the stinky ones.

So do I, and it's 'cos I actually get something out of them. Had a discussion with a guy at work who'd finally read "1984," and he was amazed how much of the book I remember, even though I haven't read it in years. This sort of made me think.... I remember it 'cos I LIKED it. I've run into the same thing with music; folks who can't quote lyrics from bands and songs they profess a great deal of affection for.

Sometimes I think that "I just wanna turn my brain off" is all that keeps the entertainment industry going....
