    Johnny Depp vs Leonardo DiCaprio

    What's Eating Gilbert Grape, guys???

I used to like Depp better...his performance in Donnie Brasco was one for the ages.

I used to HATE DiCaprio, especially after Titanic.

However...a few years have past by...and DiCaprio is getting better and better...plus he seems to be very selective in his roles and it shows...nothing but solid movies nowadays.

Depp...I'm sorry...but he's turned into a bloody cartoon character...thanks mainly to Pirates of the Caribbean and his constant association with Tim Burton.

I think both guys are pretty much even in the acting department though.

A few years ago...I would have picked Depp...but now it's DiCaprio without a doubt.

I have to admit that I admire them both. With Depp, up until the Pirates movies anyway, he seemed to just pick movies with scripts he liked, or attached to directors he wanted to work with (eg. Polanski, Jarmusch, Gilliam) with little thought or care if the movies would be sucessful or not (I think he just does so many Burton movies because they have such a good relationship, they seem to genuinely enjoy working together and maybe help inspire each other). And DiCaprio also seems to just pick films that are interesting to him too. I'll give the edge to Depp because he's done more films that I'm a big fan of (especially ED WOOD, one of my favourite films)

I loved The Departed and Catch Me If You Can. Pirates was pretty stale on the last effort. I'd like to see Depp's next part be someone truly evil.

Like 'em both equally---BUT Depp has got that "smooth charm"
          that Leo could never possess.

Let's turn this comparison into a triangle. Leo DiCaprio ended up filling a pair shoes that seemed to be destined for River Phoenix who emptied them at a Bar owned by Johnny Depp. hmmn.

While I like Both...Depp just makes more movies that I enjoy watching. DiCaprio is hit or miss with me.

I like depp better myself but then again if I watch a movie like aviator I see just how amazing Decaprio truly is.
On the most part though I would take a Depp film over one of leonardos anyday.

That's exactly why I like Depp so much. Those dark, weird movies of him and Burton are right up my alley. Pretty much everything Burton does is

Pass the air sick bag. . . I can't stand him either. . . . even if he DID collect Megos! (In fact they may mae me dislike / hate him more, because he could buy in a heart beat everything I want and couldn't afford in lifetime).

From what I've seen, he's playing the Mad Hatter (Burton's take on Alice in Wonderland) and a 4th Pirates movie.

                        Don't forget Tonto.

As a rule, I like Depp. He never fails to entertain. Dicaprio has never really done it for me. I can take him or leave him.

Both are very talented, I think.

But Depp is my favorite actor. With the exception of the Pirate movies, I'll see him in anything.

I like DiCaprio better, though I like Depp. Depp's roles have been a little too quirky recently. He's not doing a lot of good character work. I'd take Matt Damon over either of them, with DiCaprio second.
