NBC to remake Partrige Family

The thing with the Partridge Family for me ... the whole Cowsills controversy really bummed me out on that show.

I still don't know why they haven't done a reunion movie or special or SOMETHING yet!??
I mean, how many classic TV shows still have ALL the main characters alive yet??

I'll be willing to bet they've brought it up but snooty Susan Dey won't reprise her role as Laurie?
Can't you see it though? They could do a two hour movie but after the first 30 minute commercial break they could replace the original Chris with the 2nd actor to play Chris and not even say a word about it! LOL!!

Not sure I'd watch the new show but would probably watch the first episode out of curiousity.

Well, some of all of them have reunited at some point. I think David had a This Is You Life type of the thing in 1990 and Susan did show up for that. I did mention the VH1 PF search and Shirley, David, Danny, and Dave Madden showed up for that. I went to a fund raiser for KidsCharities.org in 2000 that was a 70s Retro Ball and Shirley, David and Susanne Crough were there. And of course we've seen those reunion things on various talk shows, so I think they're probably done w/ the reunion thing.

I'm talking like a "Return to Mayberry" movie or a new episode like Dick Van Dyke did a few years ago. Or even just a crappy clip show reunion special ('xx'th year reunion show) where they are all together or reprising their original roles. I did see some of those events you mentioned. I guess I'm just spoiled and want what I want. LOL
Patty Duke did a similar thing awhile back (reunion movie) just before the Mom on that show passed away. They probably wouldn't have done it now since she has passed on, so once one of them is gone , it will probably never happen.
I'm still mad that Tina Louise never got off her high horse and played Ginger again while the old gang was still around. That 'Rescue from Gilligan's Island' was spoiled by the lack of her appearance.
Same reason why they might never do another Brady Bunch special since Rob Reed is gone.

If one is going to remake something why then take the charm from it and try to "make it edgy?" If you are going for the name recognition, then you alienate the young crowd who think it's a silly show from the 70's and the older crowd who see a show they really liked messed up. Who in their right mind would twist Shirley Jones' character into a money lusting stage mom and think it is a good idea?

What's next? Alf but he looks like Aliens and he eats humans and cats?

I think they should remake MASH but make it dark and gritty..Maybe set it in a war zone with people dying all around...Maybe kill off one of the main characters early...Oh yeah, make em all alcoholics...
