I just Bumped into SHANE WARNE!

Literally. . . I rode the Bumber cars with him and his family yesterday. We were at MovieWorld on the Gold Coast. . .and standing right next to me in the queue was Shane and his kids. Of course my Kids had no idea who he was. There watching from the sidelines was Simone (divorced and retracted 10 Million Dollars from him), looking happy and jolly on the family Day out.

Well. . . .we have to put up with all the Brett Favre et al. . . stuff. . . so I thought I would add some Aussie/UK content and let the rest of you be confused for a change!

Warnie is one of the most famous sportsmen alive, he just happens to be unknown in non-Cricket playing countries :-) He is the greatest spin bowler to ever play the game of cricket, and a larger than life personality off the field.

          The Babe Ruth of Cricket?

          Nice one Dave!

Thanks Will. . . yeah I think he is MORE well known for his off field antics/indiscretions than his on field though. It was quite a ride with Shane the past decade or so.

To think he is so well known here, the UK, by about 1 billion Indians and several hundred million Pakastanis, west Indians etc. and yet unheard of by the minority in the world, the US and Belgium!

Cricket? I thought that game died out years ago.

It has nine lives - reinvents itself once in a generation. The most recent is 20 20 cricket - makes it more fast and furious.

BUT it is still played in Test Matches over 2 innings per side, over several days. Then there is one day cricket where each side has 50 overs ( an over is 6 balls).

Each is a very different style strategy wise, but essentially played the same way!

I tried to spend a sunny afternoon watching cricket the last time I was in Bath England....My head still hurts. Does the game ever end?

Unlike most sports, that last an hour or two. . . .when you can have a few quick beers or drinks. . . cricket in its shortest form lasts a day. . .enough time to drink 10 to 20 beers.

A test Match which may last 3 or 4 days, gives you enough time to drink sufficient quantities of alcohol to forget about a week before the game started!

Sure Coach. . . but you'd have to come in the Summer. . . cooler to sit in the air conditioning and watch it with a beer in the cool comfort of your living room. This is the kind of game where they stop in the middle for lunch.

Here is a bit about Warnie on You Tube. . .you never know where the ball is going!

some amazing balls at about 1min 10sec and about 3 mins.

Your right,... I do have no idea who this is,.. & I guess he would be like Favre to You,..

However if you or your Kids Play Video Games,.. Not Sure what you guys do Down Under , ,,.. & If you own one of the 5 Systems they sell on Today's Market,... Favre is on the Cover of Madden 09 . I think ITS for the Computer too.

It looks really difficult and I didn't understand the rules either, but someone explained them to me this summer and it isn't that difficult after all. Sorta leans towards baseball somewhat
