well i would'nt say cut someones hand like in India for a fruit or something to eat

But you should get what's coming to you if you get caught by the owner Invading someones home is not the same as stealing something from a store,I mean do that all you want.I don't care about that.

But someones home and privacy is sacred to me

What a good dog. Keep him around for sure.
We have the make my day law here. If they are in the house you may justifiably use deadly force. And I will.

Its easy to talk tough, but I have made peace with the fact that I will defend my home and loved ones, and worry about the rest later.

If they are brave enough to come in the house when you are home, they are probably prepared to do you harm, and I can't have that.

my sister just had some guy get into her garage and took her gas can ... I told her she should just have a gas can filled with (you know what ) so when they poor it into their tank ... they go boom.

Here we have a nice system, and we've never been robbed, a few odd times when a strange car comes up our drive way ... but 99% of the time someone is home.

Sorry to hear they got into your stuff but I'm glad they didn't get away with anything... well I guess they got your peace of mind ... but that 9mm should help give you some

              That would've been awesome

I love payback stuff like that.

I remember back in High school these idiots were always knocking down this poor guys trash can,I mean they'd hit with their trucks and throw the trash all over the place.

well after about the 10th time, the guy filled up the can with pure concrete. The idiots hit it and ended up getting the car destroyed and going to the hospital.I know the guy got in some sort of trouble, but i'm sure it was worth it

I know a guy who was being hassled by kids urinating in his mail box.
After a couple of times, he put two live electricity wires in there, hooked to the same system they use on cattle fences.

Must have been great entertainment to watch!

Didn't someone do something like that with a bear trap a while back?

I'm all for stuff like this; you know, where you'd be fine if you weren't doing something stupid.

Problem with the guns is: what do you do if someone breaks in when you're not there and steals them?

Yep. The man caught the neighborhood kid who was breaking into vehicles. Messed the little ******* up pretty bad. The teens parents turned around and sued the guy. I believe they are still in court over it. Be careful protecting your stuff. If you hurt the thief, they can sue you, especially if they are a minor. This stuff can come back to haunt you.

...in the States. Here in Canada you can't collect any sort of monetary gains from the commission of a criminal act. That includes suing for cash, and publishing your memoirs about being a crook.

But I think both countries have laws against setting lethal (or potentially lethal) traps.

.... and I'm still curious about how the bear trap thing turns out.

I remember when I was young, the big thing happening around our town was mailbox baseball. Basically, a group of kids driving buy in a pick up and they see how many mail boxes they can knock down with a swing of the bat.

After having our mailbox bashed twice, my father got really angry and cemented the mailbox post into the ground and then reinforced the inside of the box with heavy pipe material and then welded it to the post.

We heard a crack one night, my dad got up and saw fragments of a bat without a scratch to the mailbox. I never found out if the kids got hurt but they never hit our mailbox again.

It does feel really creepy when someone has the nerve to walk onto your property and steal from you. We haven't had any break ins to our house but years ago someone went through all the unlocked cars in the neighborhood and stole anything of value. I had my car unlocked and it was ransacked but luckily nothing stolen because I didn't have anything of value in it. My neighbor wasn't so lucky. He had a couple of credit cards taken and by the time he realized it, the thieves had already hit a few Home Depots buying expensive generators with his credit card. My neighbor canceled the credit card but made a big mistake. He didn't cancel his other one because it hadn't been used and he assumed maybe it wasn't taken. Sure enough a few days passed and the thieves started using the other credit card....lesson learned

I am not sure but I think I remember my Dad saying they found an Aluminium bat the *******s dropped in the weeds not too far from the mailbox. That is really funny!!

It's scary man,I remember being 9 and walking into my home and everything was thrown all over the place and knocked down. They took all my moms jewelery and a bunch of valuables

It's funny, during that time we had a lot of money cause of my little brothers dad,my mom had a huge Diamond ring with 5 karats in Diamonds and they left that one thinking it was fake

But all my toys were thrown all over the place,I guess they thought we had money hidden somewhere

"Alright Spidey; tell me where the loot is!!!!" Most of the time when someone breaks into your house it's a bunch of clowns looking for a quick buck, or some cheap kicks. That's why dogs are your best bet for home protection: very few people will want to mess with one.

You should seriously consider getting a home alarm system...I have one...and it has been very effective...I have never had a burglary in my house...ever.
