Raid 0 option for hard drives

I'm about to take the plunge and get a new PC with two 1 TB hard drives, and was wondering what are the pros and cons of configuring the drives in a Raid 0 array? I know the pro is that it can speed up performance by about 20%, but it also seem more likely to fail. (ie: if one drive fails, they both essentially fail)

Any thoughts?

Why would you risk losing all of your data (particularly when you run a business off of it and customer data, orders, payments, etc may be involved) for a moderate performance boost? Seems like a silly question to me, but maybe you've never lost data before.

Well, a lot of people seem to swear by Raid arrays, so I wanted to get some opinions before I decided.

I have no issue against RAID arrays in general, but you really could be losing the "R" (redundant) if a drive goes down on a RAID 0 setup. A RAID 1 Array is a much more efficient way to protect data.

Yeah, you might be right - though I do have several external drives I use for backup.

I would never advocate RAID striping wihout at least three physical drives in the array.
