My first animation cel: Any advice

I've seen a lot of really nice animation cels over the years but have never really had the urge to pick one up before. But when I saw this Mer-Man I had this feeling of childhood joy rush into me and it made me happy just looking at it and I just had to have it.

Mer-Man is my favorite of Skeletor's minions and his expresion is just joy causing to me for some reason. The cel isn't really valuable and probably only cool to a small number of people, but I likes it.

Any advice from people on the best ways on framing animation cels would be appreciated.

Congrats on the pick up. It means something to you, which makes it plenty valuable.

I have a cel of Astro Boy (Mighty Atom in Japan). I have him in a simple black frame, with no mat. In fact, its just two pieces of clear plastic held together by the small frame/edge. I think I got it at an AC Moore. I like how nothing interferes with the cel art, when you look at it.

Don't expose it to the lots of light...BAD for cels.

I also own a few...my favorite is a Mighty Mouse signed by Ralph Bakshi himself...it's pretty neat.

I have been collecting cel's form over 10 years. Also be sure to use non-acetate paper behind the cel so that it is not damaged. Most galleries can recommend a good framing company, but I would not try to do it on your own. I have the line up of the LEGION OF DOOM (all 13 villains) from the Superfriends which is my pride and joy. Only ten were ever made, and only given to animator's and producers/directors.

yeah PCofmisfittoys knows what he's talking about for sure ... I plan on taking a few of mine down to a local frame shop and have them mat them.

Thanks ... when I saw it I knew I had to try and win it, I got lucky the seller had a few other Skeletor cels on at the same time, but they were sets of 10 and 15 in a row so they took the heavy bidding while I got this one for a bit higher than most MOTU cels but still very fair price.

the one I saw was really small and I thought was somewhat hidden since Faker wasn't in the title, but that thing shot up to over $100 and I didn't have the cash plus if I'm going to go for one ... I want one where you can see him a bit better.

Maybe if that one guy who sells cel groups from MOTU if he gets a group of Faker, we can split the cost and share the cels lol ... combine forces ... and maybe just maybe we can get our cels of Faker and we can get Werewolf in on it too. but we'd have to make sure there were 3 faker cels in the group lol

i have a few cells, some are matted and some in frames, i have 2 autographed by Hanna barbera, ones in this picture the other is being shipped from park West gallery
