Man has eaten 23,000 Big Macs since 1972

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (AP) - A 54-year-old man says his obsessive-compulsive disorder drove him to eat 23,000 Big Macs in 36 years. Fifty-four-year-old Don Gorske says he hit the milestone last month, continuing a pleasurable obsession that began May 17, 1972 when he got his first car.

Gorske has kept every burger receipt in a box. He says he was always fascinated with numbers, and watching McDonald's track its number of customers motivated him to track his own consumption.

The only day he skipped a Big Mac was the day his mother died, to respect her request.

The correctional-institution employee says he doesn't care when people call his Big Mac obsession crazy. He says he's in love with the burgers, which are the highlights of his days.

As long as he doesn't kill over from a massive heart attack due to clogged arteries, more power to him.

I haven't been able to stomach a Big Mac for 5 years or so. Last few I ate made me sick to my stomach. I just can't metabolize that much fat anymore.

I used to like Mac's a lot better in the 70's when they came in those styrofoam cases.
The patties were a lot bigger then they are today.

Now, Macs are just bun and lettuce.

Iv'e eaten one in the last 5 years. Not that I don't like them but there is a lot of other choices out there now in the fast food world.

Don Gorske is a real oddball, he's featured in "Super Size Me" and he's been on TV a bunch of times. While in no way obese, he doesn't look very healthy either.

I tried eating one a few months back, adn it wasn't so good. I hadn't had one in a few years.

yeah I've seen him on tv before,that's a little crazy,there's days where he eats 4 or 5...I personally love Big Macs,yes back in the 80's they were bigger and better but I still love them now,That's what i usually eat when i go to McDonalds no pickles and extra onions

Aren't those the "Thousand Island" burgers? I'd rather go dumpster diving than eat mcdonalds burger, now the mcnuggets on the other hand, I really love them.

I like a Big Macs maybe a couple times a year but like it's already been said they're not what they used to be.

I used to like them Burger King rip-off Big Mac's.
They were good......
They were only out a year or so back in the early 90's (I think).
They might have been called Big King.

I heard BK still sells them in some countries (I think I read Canada among others)
