Well, you know, everyone'll have their opinions, and admitedly I'm a big fan
of everything he did "nonstop" during the 80s era Controversy/Dirty Mind
to BATMAN, so I know somewhat what that 90s disenchantment is like
(i'm a tough cookie on Prince in that regard just like t2cool)

but...

.... to say Prince hasn't done good music since the 80s and his recent stuff
"sucks" sounds pretty dang bold to me. Prince is never THAT
bad as he never strays from solid songwriting for very long. I mean, unless
you never liked him in the first place, but, then that's another whole
different deal

He may have strayed
a bit in the 17 years since the 80s----but, for just one example that
I believe negates toys2cool's statement, just pick up his MUSICOLOGY
album from a couplea years ago and you'll find some music that is good and
doesn't suck

Incidentally, speaking of the 80s----his NEW album that I was talking about
coming out this month, features Wendy & Lisa from "THE REVOLUTION" his
band in the 80s, and if you listen to that album t2cool, I'll bet you'll find it
very low in the "suck" dept. as it seems to cop his 80s vibe more than ever--
good solid rock with a heavy dose of funk thrown in

Prince has written and produced alot of songs/albums performed by other artist. I am not a big Prince fan, but I got to give it to him, he is one of the most talented and successful artist out there.

He is on the little strange side, but isn't most of todays actors, artist, etc?

Everybody else in the world has released a perfume (Michael Jordon, Brittney, Elizabeth Taylor, P-Diddy, etc), why not Prince?

The way I see it, Prince has recorded more songs than probably
most any other musician on the planet, as he has self-produced his own
tracks and played the majority of all instruments on them for many years
racking up scores of officially unreleased material, so, from a certain point
of view, you could say he's "earned" "retirement" status...

However, Prince is far from retired and releases an album about once every
couplea years these days (his new one is coming out this month) and
he tours quite a bit too

And, incidentally, regarding him getting into the perfume business---
I'd wager not many others would know better what a beautiful girl should
smell like than Prince
