    Made my day

Today I came to work about 6 a.m. to find a note from one of my old students who is now in High School. The note said:

    Hey Mr. A
I stopped by but you were at football practice. I just wanted to let you know I miss you and I'm doing well in High School. Your class was the best I ever had and you are great at teaching. See You soon!

    Love Ya, Cara

This is the reason I do what I do. I remember the last day of school Cara came to me crying and hugged me and kept saying " I can't leave you, you are the reason I come to school". When stuff like this happens I know I make a difference. I love my job on days like today! I would like to believe that there are a lot more Cara's out there that I have helped.

Coach, I know that had to be a good confirmation of why you do what you do.

For every ONE that will stop to tell you that, there are several more that feel the same way , but might be too awkward to say it and so they don't. Remember that, too.

Fall back on this moment if you feel doubts about what you do. Don't take it as a reward, my friend. I know you and you don't need rewards. However, at some point, when you need it, let it be the encouragement you need to keep doing what you do.

        Great story

there's always a few teachers you never forget.

My best ones were Mr.Torres.. looked just like Seinfeld

and my coach Crumpler who I had for weight lifting,Personal fitness & Health,PE and Peer counseling.I actually ran into him last week at Sports authority and he ran and gave me a hug He said he always knew I would be a personal trainer,he told my nephew I was his best student of all time and that he still talks about me.He's now a principal at a very good private school

My English teacher was known as being a super strict guy.
He wanted you to learn. He could laugh and joke with us, sure, but he took his work seriously. Everyone was afraid of him, but he taught us well, and on an adult level. English you could use.
Now that's teaching. I wish he could have taught us every subject.
He was hardest on me, because I already read English novels by the age of ten. If I made one mistake in a test, he busted my *** back to a C minus. That happened only once. For using American English. ()

Anyway, teachers can make or break a student.
A simple example of the reverse side of the coin: my physical education teacher said that a kid learned how to swim by throwing him in at the deep end.

The kids in my class had to fish me out of the water, and I still can't swim!

          Here's to good education!

By the way: everything I know about the English language, I learned from decent Tv (the BBC) and reading Dr. Who novels! (love those Target editions!)

            That's a great story.

It really feels good to be appreciated in what is sometimes a thankless job. Even though I have taken I hiatus from coaching soccer, it always felt good to have a parent tell me how much they appreciated my time and dedication.

It will be especially gratifying when I see the girls that I coached playing for High School team someday. One of them is already turning out to be a phenom and although I coached her when she was 4 or 5 years old and probably doesn't even remember me, it will great to see her play High School soccer in a few years.

Frame that note, and whenever you get tired or frustrated with teaching, go back and read the note again.

That's great! This reminds me that I better go and make a date with my French teacher, Sister Agnes.
