Your number 1 guy, as I found out just a few years ago, is a type of typical garden spider. They get much bigger than the ones you normally see in your back yard.

I do find spiders fascinating and I won't kill them. They not only eat the insects mentioned above but also wasps and hornets. I let them make their webs where they wish because of this. We found a newly hatched egg saxk in my wife's greenhouse last year. My boys loved watching them make their little parachutes and take off. We all take care of them around my house.
I take them outside when I find them in the house....unless they dangle over my face when I wake up. Then they're fair game. lol.

    1. They're black spiders about 3 inches across and make giant webs in uncut fields and sit in the centre of the web.
They have a yellow design on their backs --- and shake their webs when they get distubed ... I've seen some so big, they were eating grasshoppers that got caught in their webs.

    2. These spiders are brown and measure about 1-2 inches across.... They make funnel shaped really thick webs (sometimes 2 feet across) in barns and cellars.

    3. Not sure if they're jumping spiders, but they look like little mini tarantulas --- about 1/4 to 1/2 inch across......and they run so fast you can't see their legs moving --- they almost look like their hovering.

Love them, they are nature's pest control. We have one teeny one living on the window sill in the kitchen that seems to be getting his fill of sugar ants.

We have tons of mosquitoes so I love spiders. These little guys always get in the way. I move them and they just rebuild right in the most annoying spots.

Bill, that is such a cool spider! I would love to photograph something like that. How large was it? It's so beautiful!

I don't hate spiders ... I can't say I enjoy them crawling on me or anything lol.

the other night I woke up and I'm not sure what kind it was but it's common around here but for some reason over the past few years, they have been growing about twice as big. So from leg to leg they've been getting close to 3 inches wide ... the body is about 1/4" wide. having that right next to my head first thing in the morning wasn't the greatest thing, but I just got a jar and moved him outside. Of course it might be different if we had the poisonous ones around here ... but worse thing we get might be a red welp mark.

They're pretty tiny. The biggest one might reach an inch wide.

I love spiders, and like Jessica...I owned tarantulas as well.

They are great predators, they keep the bug population down.

I hate spiders with a passion. Several years ago, a brown recluse bit me and did major damage to my leg.

I hate them. And I'm afraid of them. The only cool spider is a dead spider. Except for superheroes with spider themes.

As long as they are not poisonous I don't mind spiders.
