I would get out of town now. It is going to be a mad house in about 12 hours. Going to take 6 hours to go from New Orleans to Baton Rouge (60 miles). If I were you, I would head northeast, goto Montgomery, Birmingham, etc.

I talked to my brother earlier today, he lives in Erath Louisianna. He said they are evacuating everyone tomorrow. He works in animal control (dog catcher). Him and some co-workers are staying behind at the animal shelter (dog pound). They're going to round up all of the lost animals after the storm and try to find out who they belong to. The shelter is supposed to be able to withstand the storm. I sure hope so.

OK, it is still bearing down on us, landfall of eye expected around 8 am tomorrow (reaching us about noon or so). We started preparing for this thing last Tuesday evening. You need to see the idiots running around town now, looking for ice, water, gas, generators, etc. You think these idiots would have learned their lesson three years ago with Katrina.

We still haven't got a drop of rain yet. It is now cloudy and breezy. The bottom is expected to fall out in a couple hours.

My parents are staying put. It's only showing it to be a tropical storm when it hits us:
          Houston, Texas Weather
Rita hit us as a cat3 and from the horror of that mass out of control cluster-*blank* evacution, I would have much prefered to have ridden out the storm. We still had running water and power from the generator when we got back home.

That's the opposite of here with Fay. People did take it seriously, and its been four years almost to the day of Charley.

Keep out of harms way Ant (ABMAC). Some of us "oldtimers" haven't forgotten about ya. Stay Safe.
