Proof that God Has a Sense of Humor

Ok, so I'm broke. My daughter's starting college next week and I'm completely tapped financially. Naturally, this turns up on Hake's website:
Hake's - HOPPY THE MARVEL BUNNY DOLL.
I've never even heard of this doll before, and I'm sitting here thinking of selling my truck to pay for the damned thing. I think God is testing me

That's awesome. For as popular as Captain Marvel and the Marvel Family was, I'm surprised that there wasn't more merch available. However, I'm always surprised at the stuff that does pop up. I've never seen this piece before. Thanks for posting the image!
    Hey! Check out the pictures.

There's actually quite a bit of merchandising for Hoppy out there. When I was actively seeking out Hoppy items, I was frequently surprised at the things that would turn up besides just comic books. He and several other funny animal characters owned by Fawcett turned up on puzzles, coloring books, a whole line of paper toys, children's clothing, and bean bags. This is the first plush doll I've ever seen for Hoppy. According to Hakes, this is one of only two known to exist.

Impressive. That pic makes him look 8' tall. And to have something where there are only 2 known - good luck!! What year is that anyway?

Probably mid-1940's. Hoppy was introduced in 1942.

The amount of Captain Marvel merchandise back then was really amazing. And from little I know Hoppy did seem to get some serious exposure. It's a shame DC has done virtually nothing with the character.

Good luck if you decide to go for it. Chances are you may never see another one again, esp. in this shape.

Maybe we should start a fundraiser: "Help George get his fluffy bunny!"

My gal could probably make one of these for less then this. I could ask her if this means that much to you.

Hakes sold a Captain Marvel doll like this Hoppy a short while ago. He had some condition issues and was missing his cape and belt, and still topped $7000. I'm hoping Hoppy sells for considerably more, just so I don't have to feel bad about not bidding on him

Hope you picked up the Marvel Bunny/Bill Batson two pack from DC Direct!

It's not as awesome as that stuffed Bunny, but it's SOMETHING.

I bought five of those sets so far. I'll probably pick up some more if they start hitting clearance eventually

Final bid: $6,199.76. Less than I thought it would go for, but high enough to keep me well out of the running.
