When my kids were small, I took them to a free signing: one signature each, no sketches.

The guy in front of me used his kids to get extra autographs, which ticked me off, but that's comic people. Those kids had five comics each.

When Smith saw my kid's well-worn Bone and Little Mouse books (and maybe also that I brought nothing to be signed), he gave them both sketches. He didn't have to but he wanted to.

I'm so sorry to hear this, I love his Shazam! work. And I agree, I hope his convalescence is short and successful.

To our friends and fans: Jeff Smith is recuperating from a cardiac arrest suffered on Sunday. There will be a long road to recovery, so regrettably we must cancel the remainder of his book tour this year. Our apologies to his fans who were coming to see him at: Rob Con (VA), CXC (OH), Bedrock Comic Con (TX) and NYCC (NY). We hope this is just a bump in the road and that Jeff will see you all next year. Thank you for your support and understanding at this time.

All our thoughts and well wishes are with Jeff for a speedy requirement and with his kith and kin as they deal with this and help support Jeff through his recovery.

Jeff's work (including Bone, RASL, Tuki, Shazam, etc.) have brought me so much joy over the years, if there's any good karma in the world, Jeff deserves some to aid in his recovery.
