    The Spirit Trailer

Did everyone see this before "The Dark Knight"? Whatja think?

I like the idea of having a lot of the femme fatales in the film...

but I absolutely HATE Samuel L. Jackson's "Octopus". That's not the freakin' Octopus! First of all...you NEVER see the face of the Octopus, you only see a gloved hand (one quite similar to the Spirit's own gloved hand....hmmmmm).
Putting a face to the mysterious criminal mastermind is....blasphemy!

I hope and pray that I'm wrong and that this film is actually decent...but as I told my daughter when she asked if we'd be going to see it..."The jury's still out".

It looked a lot better than I expected it to. And yeah I'm more than a bit dissapointed with the Octopus's portrayal here. I do like to see Sam Jackson chewing up scenery tho, so he should be fun in the movie.

I hate the idea of Eva Mendes as Sand Sariff.

If a movie could make negative money, it might be this one.

There was a Spirit trailer? All I saw was Watchmen, The Day The Earth Stood Still, Terminator: Salvation, Tropic Thunder...and Sin City 2.

In our theatre it was Watchmen, followed by The Spirit, Terminator: Salvation, The X-Files

I hope my sarcasm wasn't lost. I did see The Spirit trailer at the first DK showing I took in. But it looked NOTHING like the Spirit I know. Other than some of the names and the fact the guy had a suit, fedora and mask on. It's not even the right color...

Didn't see X-Files, but I saw it with the Hulk. I don't think that one is going to go over very well. They left the series in too bad of shape for most casual fans to care about this movie.

DOH! Yes I didn't catch that on the first read through...I thought the reference to Sin City 2 was legit considering how far in advance some of these trailers are.

Anyway...yes there seemed to be lots of black and white and some red thrown in there but no BLUE throughout the trailer...I saw an interview where Miller explained "why" no blue and it was pure BS like the rest of the pic seems to be.

The sad thing is the Spirit isn't relatively well-known to the mainstream general public anymore and Miller's film is going to make everyone think the property is something it isn't...

What it "IS" is a classic 8 page adventure strip that was very much tongue-in-cheek that never took itself too seriously...Denny Colt often came out with the crappy end of the stick on more than one occassion. The femmes were fatales (looks like Miller might have at least gotten that one right)...the Octopus was NEVER seen...the suit, hat and domino mask were BLUE...and more story was packed into those 8 short pages than Miller could ever hope for with 2 hours of celluloid. If anything I think the Spirit could be done justice with half-hour TV episodes instead of those overblown feature film.

Tag a Cologne at the end of this and it looks like a tv commercial for a Calvin Klein ad. Miller should be strung up for crapping on Eisner's Spirit. I hope it bombs!

It looks too much like Sin City. Plus Eva Mendes has never impressed me as an actress. I have doubts on this one.
