when I was a kid my favorites were:
1 Doc Savage.(I know he wasn't in comics, but by any definition of "Super Hero" you care to use, he fits. I'd go to the used bookstore every week with my mom to look for Bantam reprint books.)
2 Batman
3 The Vision (that one I can't explain, but I loved him as kid)
4 Captain America
5 Iron Man

Dittos ~ Seeing I was 10 in '73, Alan Carter in Space:1999 wasn't on the air yet (not a comic hero, but neither were some of the other honorable mentions offered thus far..).

TOTALLY AGREE on Cap and Falc below, so my list would be something like..:

1) Captain America and the Falcon (YES, I know it's two..)
2) Spiderman
3) Thing (and rest of FF..)
4) Green Lantern
5) Robin

I had to really think those out.. The non-comic heroes would have to rest on the crew of the Enterprise.

Batman - Adam West and the Mego Batcave I had made this guy a no-brainer.

Captain America - I had many issues of Cap and Falcon back in the day. He was such a visual treat and Falcon was darn cool too. Actually today, I like him more than Cap.
