    Hancock? Any thoughts?

    http://www.aintitcool.com/node/37266

The general buzz about this movie was been negative, but early reviews are that it's surprising and not to bad. I'm interested in it conceptually, but something about the trailers put me off. The whole alcoholic hobo superhero thing I guess. But apparently that's only for the first part of the film. I generally like waitching Will Smith.

My wife is totally NOT into the super-hero movie thing (that's why I always go with the kids)...but since day one when we first saw the trailer she said, "That seems interesting to me". So now of course that's become the running joke whenever the trailer pops up on TV.

I never cared for Will Smith Movies,.. until I-Robot & everything After. I hope this flick will be on par with his last few films, because I do have interest in seeing the film.

Why does it have to top Iron Man? I agree that it probably won't (top Iron Man) but I still intend to see it.

Why would anybody see a Will Smith movie? Are you kidding me? Men In Black 1&2 really sucked and except for the White house being blown up in Independance Day,(which was cool) the rest was a rip-off of like 5 other movies. I-Robot was a piece of garbage, and I wouldn't even bother seeing I Am Legend on cable.

You're just angry about everything, aren't you? I actually enjoyed most of the movies you mentioned, and I'd wager most here did as well. Do you have some sort of weird grudge against Will Smith?

No, I'm not angry about anything,or have a weird grudge. I just can't imagine anybody being excited about something that Will Smith is in. Did you really like those movies? Get real, and by the way, shouldn't you be catching up on your 2006 orders?

The only Will Smith movie I have watched and enjoyed was Ali...suprisingly enough it was the only movie that Wicka Wicka Will Smith didnt play the part as Wicka Wicka Will Smith ....and I think thats the problem...you either like Wicka Wicka Will Smith or don't....I find it hard to watch him myself and was disappointed in all the movies listed above.

I enjoyed I am Legend. I like Will Smith. But, I grew-up watching Fresh Prince and listening to, "Parents Just don't understand." So, I maybe biased. I will prolly go see Hancock. Maybe.

Wow, way to make an impression. Not a big Wil Smith fan either, and this movie does nothing for me.
Why's his superhero costume look like a XMen reject anyway??

Wow. There are some pretty stupid Will Smith movies out there but that isn't his fault. I think the man is a really friendly guy and a great father. He is one the best actors on the silver screen these days. I loved the movie I Am Legend. To say he sucks is kind of a strange and not correct word to use to describe the majority of Will Smith's career. For a guy with about 76 posts, you sure come off strong about a person that most of us agree is not a bad guy.

I think part of the problem with a guy like Smith is that he's hired for his name. Big names are a draw. And accordingly, the producers have certain things there expecting from him. So he's not allowed to act so much like the character as he's expected to act like Will Smith PLAYING the character. Same thing happens with a lot of big names.

The problem is: when this is the case you become WAY too aware of "the man behind the curtain." It breaks the reality of the film 'cos you're not thinking "Look! It's Hancock!" You're thinking "Look! It's Will Smith!" So for some folks, that becomes jarring. And they interpret that to be bad acting when in actuality it has nothing to do with the actor at all, it's a problem with the guys at the top. The actor isn't used as an actor, they're product placement.
