    Favorite limited series

SInce we've got the favorite juices flowing today, here's another one.

Justice - I love JLA, I love Ross's work. This was a no-brainer. I even liked the story for 3/4 of the series. I still re-read these from time to time.

Machine Man(1986?) - This introduced me to Windsor Smith and a new type of storytelling. It was well-written and touching. It was unlike most books I'd read to that point.

Squadron Supreme - I've still got to get the collected version and read this again. It' a complete JLA ripoff, but I think that's why I like it so much. Great story involving a new universe of characters, intrigue, betrayal and redemption.

Kingdom Come - In my eyes, hands down the best comic book acheivement in 30 years. Oh yeah, people will argue for Dark Knight, Watchmen or some other book, but this just hit all the right spots for me and is untouchable. Those others are great on their own, but nothing I've read really got to me like this.

Those are just off the top of my bald head.

Kingdom Come is my all time fave; they don't come better than this in my eyes. Marvels, Watchmen and Crisis On Infinite Worlds are runners up.

My favorites have already been taken, but here's a few I liked as well.

Untold Legend of the Batman. I believe No.1 was John Byrne's first work for DC. Aparo finished it up.

Untold Tales of the Green Lantern Corps was cool, too, with some great Brian Bolland covers. I think Mike Barr wrote it.

The Phantom Zone mini with Gene Colan art was fun. I think Steve Gerber wrote it.

The Robin Mini that led to the ongoing series was good.

                      Camelot 3000

I liked the Hawkeye mini from the 1980s as well as the Bob Layton Hercules that was mentioned earlier.

But, I would agree that none of them live up to stuff like Kingdom Come, New Frontier, Marvels, Watchmen, V for Vendetta, Golden Age and Batman Year One, Dark Knight.

But my most appreciated mini series of all time is GL Rebirth for returning Hal to the stands without belittling Kyle as a character.
