Too old, in fact, a year older than Affleck (47 vs 46).
The studios already made it clear they are going with someone much younger, in his late 20s, early 30s...

I try to give Cavill a pass. "He was hamstrung by the material." But honestly, if Christopher Reeve starred in those three movies, do you think the character would seem so glum? You might. I mean, after all, Christopher Reeve had been dead for several years by the time Man of Steel came out. I guess what I'm saying is... Christopher Reeve's corpse would have been less of a downer than Cavill's performance.Leave a comment:

This sucks, IMO.
While Man of Steel was terrible it wasn't Cavill's fault and he showed in BvS (an even worse movie) that he could have been fun with Clark Kent in a traditional sense and then with Justice League, he showed some real flourish with the character. But now it sounds like all of that is wasted.
He was pretty much the ONLY person I liked in the DCMU.Leave a comment:

See this is why I don't get it either Grant should have been Flash from the start he has it...Unlike creepy Ezra Miller...I think recasting is a better option than rebooting again.
I don't really care for that guy playing the Flash though.
I feel like they shouldn't have made such a big deal about the movies and tv shows being separate.
Grant Gustin is a great Flash.
Manu Bennett is a great Slade.
Melissa Benoist is a great Supergirl.
Even if they didn't want to incorporate everything, they had some building blocks in place to help flesh out the "shared universe" idea.
I will miss Henry Cavill, but I didn't care for Ben Affleck.
But then I still think of Michael Keaton as my Batman.
Both DC & Marvel can't get their act straight when it comes to a "Shared" universe at least Marvel acknowledges it though...Leave a comment:

That's the thing... whether Cavill and co. stay on board or not, this whole DCEU thing feels tainted.I think they should just go ahead and drop trying to create a cinematic universe right now and just focus on strong stand alone movies. Shazam looks like a step in the right direction to me.
I really feel like Cavill, Affleck, and the rest of the crew on JL were snake bit. Like them or not, that movie underperformed horribly.
I haven't seen the Aquaman preview, but I actually am excited for Shazam.
I'd prefer strong standalone movies, with a nudge and a wink to them being connected.
I really don't want another origin movie for Superman or Batman.Leave a comment:

Forgot to add that I don't think the Joker movies are the way to go either.Last edited by CrimsonGhost; Sep 12, '18, 5:06 PM.Leave a comment:

And on the bright side, John Hamm says he's interested in Batman. Make it so.Leave a comment:

pretty sure all DC TV is going to the streaming service and seems to be thru Geoff Johns, too. Eventually he will fall out of grace and go the way of Zack Snyder.Leave a comment:

Scrap their movies and give us a good Superman and Batman series each on Netflix or something. NOT DC Streaming. Get it out there where almost everyone can see it. And keep those Titans guys away from it.

WW, Aquaman and Shazam movies are too far along to scrap so just start rebuilding with those three movies and bring in the new Batman and Superman in a World's Finest movie.Leave a comment:

That's bad news. Cavill was great as Superman. An inspired casting choice. I was really looking forward to his next standalone movie, as well as any future JL films.
WB has squandered a great opportunity.Leave a comment:

The DC Movie Universe was a failed project from the start.
The 2011 Green Lantern was to start up the DC Universe movies but after it bombed they went back to the drawing board. Then with the lawsuit of Superman franchise WB wanted to get out a movie in case the Judge did not side with them and they would have to spilt profits with the Siegel & Shuster estate so they hired Zack Snyder to redo the Superman franchise in the style of Christopher Nolan Batman. Snyder & Nolan thought up a trilogy like the Dark Knight.
Then Marvel Cinematic Universe happened and they interconnected there movies and made money doing so. After the court battle went with DC Comics the first movie was nearly done so WB came up with the idea to add in elements to expand the movie to include DC Comics Easter Eggs. Once the movie came out WB decided it was too late to restart there DC Universe to they just rolled ahead.
So you see Man of Steel was not supposed to start the DC Universe movies, it was WB who decided since they had one Superman movie out they would keep it going. Man of Steel two would have introduced Lex Luthor & kryptonite to that universe and Luthor would have possibly cast Bryan Cranston for the role. You can see that part in the extended version of BvsS and the behind the scenes images where they were using his likeness as a potential role for the movie. WB never got the chance to as him because Jesse Eisenberg wanted the role.
Now since WB keep getting there hands in the franchise it is a huge mess. I do not go to watch the movies at the theater anymore, I wait till they get released on DVD. Now I do plan on going to see Aquaman because I have been supporting the character since I was old enough to read and play with action figures.Leave a comment:
