Bleeding Cool has an article detailing BOOM! Studios plans to adapt Rod Serling's original unused Planet of the Apes screenplay to comics in a book called Planet of the Apes: Visionaries coming out in August.
I looks to be in the vein of the Lucas Draft adaptation Dark Horse did of Star Wars which used George Lucas' original version of the screenplay done in the early 70s before he revised it. BOOM! is using Serling's original screenplay which they determined was unshootable (because of the effects needed/production costs to being to the screen) and later versions of it by others became what we saw on the screen in the '68 movie.
They are using some of the test footage done with that original screenplay as the launching point for the visual style of the adaptation.
Could be interesting.
