I know some folks like that show, so I didn't want to compare them, but yes, it would seem so. I do think Gotham as a city has more to offer as a setting even without the hero. Metropolis is just a major city with little to no character without those characters in it. Especially the MAIN character. The companion piece to Gotham?

I was never a big fan of the 50s Superman TV show (it was just before my time), but I appreciate the straightforwardness of "give 'em what they want", rather than ignoring the elephant in the room.
Do you think it's a production cost driving the story? Or do you think it's reluctance to fully embrace what may be perceived as a "juvenile" character? Or do you think there's an avoidance to conflict with the Cinematic version of the DCU?Comment

It's one and two. Superman means VFX and they have no idea what size paying audience their DC Direct sub is going to have. Then putting Superman on Supergirl really didn't drive an audience, so it was an unnecessary dilution. Finally, they want to show that DC's ip is deep...which I'm guessing was part of the original pitch. I bank on the Guardian being a main player.
What I don't get is how can they greenlight this show and produce Krypton when the tones are going to have zero continuity. You can contrast characters that way, but not within one character's library.Comment

Gotham is filled with awesome villains...it works. Plus young Bruce Wayne is a constant presence, unlike Kal-El...who is an infant when the planet explodes, lol.
What is Metropolis going to feature? A young Jor-El and young Zod...and??? WHO ELSE???
It’s a pass for me as well...sigpicComment
