Christopher Nolan has certainly embraced a more edgier concept for this Batman series, so if my son were disturbed by certain images, likely contained in a film like this, I would probably see it first (without him) to determine if the ride is too much. I must say it makes me feel really good to hear that kind of concern. It's good to know there are kids out there that have a sensitivity to violence or the suggestion thereof. In this era, where violence is so prevalent in all aspects of entertainment, it's important for kids to get a break from it, whenever possible, so they don't get desensitized to the reality of what they are seeing. I definitely think the Dark Knight will be a great ride, but Nolan is certainly aiming at an older audience for this installment. It will be interesting to see how critics take to another dark installment - remember how they crucifide Batman Returns? Of course, I will be surprised if critics are too harsh since this was Heath Ledger's final role. His death has certainly brought an added creepiness to the character. I think Dark Knight's opening weekend will be huge at the box office.

        Hmmmm....

I think it really depends on your kids wether the film is appropriate or not. I would have snoozed through this when I was a kid, but I know some ADULTS that'd be creeped out by the Joker.

        >Perhaps the Jokers "Look" & Portrail Seems abit too Dark.

Meh. His new look is reminishent of a slasher film psycho; which I think is too bad. In the comics; pretty much regardles of era, the Joker is a hyperactive nujob who might poison you, might shoot you, might noogie you and go laughing into the night. The new one has the same problem the Nicholson one did; NOT animated enough.

Now; if someone played him like the Joker from the 60's Batman and had him killing folks and pulling crimes.... well, you'd have the 90's cartoon Joker. Which would be okay by me.

That May infact be the Issue right there..., is the Fact that in the previews He does Come off as a 2 Bit Psycho Slasher from some bad Horror Film.

          Thanks for the Insight.

Also bare in Mind Guys...that were making Judgements, based only on little Clips from the trailers. I think We need to see the whole Movie...before drawing any real conclusions.

I don't mind them reinterpreting the Joker somewhat. They pretty much had to. Nicholson's Joker is so ingrained on everyone's mind that if they went with the traditional Joker like he played, Dark Knight would have been seen as a remake of Burton's Batman. Everyone expects the hero to be consistent, but I think the general public wants a little more variety in the portrayl of the villains.

....which I think is the problem, since Nicholson's Joker was HORRIBLE! And that watered down, catchphrase spewing portrayal is what the majority of the audience thinks of.

                *sigh*

Not to mention kind of fat. Nicholson represents one of the big problems with superhero movies, big talent for the villain even if they don't really fit the bill.
He can play crazy but he's playing "the Jacker" really.

I am open to Ledger because I think he won the role not for his name but because he could act. I keep thinking about the Joker's first appearance in the comics, he's kind of mobid, creepy and subdued. Not animated at all really.

Yep. And Goyer and Nolan have been quoted as saying they are following the earliest Joker appearances. There isn't much "funny" about that Joker at all. He's a methodical killer. That was originally the point of the Joker...this humorous, murderous clown. The crazy cackling and behavior came later.
