I'm a big Marvel guy so it's The Vision all the way. Wouldn't know RT if I saw a picture of him. Oh and the Vision could have had Mantis too anytime he wanted.

Make mine Marvel..."Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn"
In the Southeast Pacific, lies the sunken city of R'Leyh. There lies C'thulhu waits to return to our world with the other Great Old Ones. A hideous creature of enormous size and alien power, it waits for it's time to return patiently. For it has all the time in the world while it waits for the stars.

I though a portion of Jim Hammond was incorporated into The Vision. I think I read that in the recent 12-issue Avengers maxi-series by Busiek and Pacheo. Avengers Forever.
I have to take The Vision over Red Tornado. The Vision was like a robot version of Martian Manhunter. He could alter his density - from intangible to diamond hard; fire optical laser beams. He just seemed cooler than a robot who could whip up a funnel cloud.
And the whole Vision - Scarlet Witch - Wonder Man was kind of interesting.

Have to go with The Vision. Just so much more substance and intresting (if convoluted) storylines. Red Tornado (at least the times I read) always seemed to have self-esteem issues over...and over...and overComment

I'm a DC first guy, but the Vision has it all over the Red Tornado.
The Red Tornado's been at the center of maybe a half dozen very good JLA stories over the years, but for 20 years the Vision was integral to the Avengers.
I will say this, though, the Christmas-themed Brave and Bold cartoon episode guest starring the Red Tornado is on my list of the best cartoons ever. Great fun and very heart-warming.Comment

Ma Hunkle would wipe the floor with the Vision (modern or golden age). The guys too broody and he cries all the time!
robot wise....Vision did get a little more "press" so to speak, but when you peel them both down to the essentials, they are basically the same character with different powers.
With DC's current proclivity to mess with everything these days, they really ought to retool Red Tornado. To my way of thinking its always better to try and improve your second and third string characters than continue to PO your readership by continually fidgeting with your superstars. Tornado is a c lister with promise. He definitely has the potential to be a heavy hitter if handled correctly."Crayons taste like purple!"Comment

LIke them both a lot but the classic stories with the Vision really make him stand out. Poor Reddy's only had a few story arcs (IMHO) that have approached the same kind of character moments... but I'm glad that both of the Big Two have a character like that...
I agree with Captain that Red Tornado has a lot of potential/promise if handled correctly...
I still recall his original debut (and the red/purple suit!)..... (as you hear my bones creaking in the background.. LOL!)Comment

I too like them both. i'm a bigger DC fan and think Reddy is a good character and intersting powers. his relationship with kathy was always more of a wanting to be normal and having a foster daughter to look after made it really different. But i would probably say the Vision is a cooler character. his varied abilities are better in a fight. he's more intregal to his team, except when they trash him(or Reddy). Wanda is a better babe to have though~! and visions custume is cooler. though Reddy in the red/ purple was cool too."Hang on Lady...
