Just finished it tonight. Seems weird to compare it to the other Netflix Marvel shows, cuz it was such a different animal. But I thought it stood head and shoulders above those other offerings..

I liked most of it. My gripes are the girlfriend angle and Frank being dirty before anything happened to his family. I thought they handled Billy Russo really well.

Well, I for one really liked it and it gives me new hope after Iron Fist and Defenders.

I really liked the angle they took on the war vets, PTSD, and why being the Punisher would never work in a real life situation.

see, now I liked the Thomas Jane version...except for Travolta. but I can look past his goofiness and still enjoy that movie.

I guess Punisher is not really for everyone anyway, just based on the subject matter, so everyone can have their opinion on each version and no one is right or wrong

Punisher with Dolf - not good
Punisher with Jane - Terrible (thanks to Travolta)
Punisher short with Jane - good
    Punisher with Stevenson - watchable
Punisher on Daredevil - very good
Punisher Netflix - not worth watching

Just like in the comics -He is best used as a guest character or in small doses
I like your post. I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't like the Netflix series. I liked him in Daredevil, but his series was super lame. Not Punisher at all.

I'm up to Episode 6, and have been more than happy with it, especially after those 2 awful movie attempts. Bernthal is great. The only thing I note about it is that it is a little bit like the old Person of Interest tv series. Punisher and Micro are kind of like Reese & Finch.

I thought it was really good. No filler, well written, didn't try to do too much, no forced humor or cheese.
A little too gory maybe but that's to be expected.
Intense action and well choreographed fight scenes.
Bernthal is indeed the best take so far.

Watched the first half of episodes yesterday, working on the rest today. Certainly one of the best Marvel series, and Bernthal is great in the role.

yeah, I never read the comics either(well maybe 1 or 2) but I agree, best interpretation of the character, IMHO. yes they changed some of the backstory, but it still is the same idea, family murdered, seeks revenge, has a strong code of honor. I just love how they show how tortured the man is. really gives more of a sense of what drives him. the villain was obvious from the get, but I did not mind. I guess he becomes jigsaw? I think that is his name, same villain from Punisher Warzone?
