Like Chris said he played it to the crowd it was intended the Kiddies. Although his Superman was more like the comic book. He distinguished the difference between Clark and Superman and ranks with George and Chris as the best Supermans. Both seriels are solid with Noel Neill as Lois, Tommy Bond( Butch from Our Gang) and Pierre Watkins as Perry White. Watkins appeared in the Tv show and was going to Replace John Hamilton as Perry after Hamilton died before filming was to begin in 1959.

Columbia pictures which did the Superman seriels was considered the most low budget of the film studios and cut cost in the films by animating Superman Flying, a big dissapointment to everyone.

If you want to see a Great Superhero seriel Get The Adventures of Captain Marvel. It's considered one of the best movie seriels. Starring Tom Tyler who is a dead ringer for the Early version of Cap.The costume is classic and the flying scenes are amazing for it's time. Plus this is a hardcore version of Cap not seen in the comics where he KILLS the bad guys shooting them and throwing them off buildings.

    Steve.

Agreed. While Christopher Reeve is considered by many to be the defninitive Superman, there's something really authentic about George Reeves when he crashes into walls.
I wish I knew how to make youtube videos. If I could, I'd love to do some editing and a video compiliation of John Hamilton's Perry White screaming, 'DON'T CALL ME CHIEF!"
      Cheers.

Chris is only the definitive Superman for this generation.. Mostly 30 - 40 somethings.

Ask any 50 - 70 year old WHO was Superman.

George will come up 98% of the time.

Being around people your own age most of the time sometimes clouds your mind to the rest of the world.

        Just my opinion

I like hokey and corner, too. I have the season 1 box set and it's great fun. Gangsters hanging out of windows of buildings and moving cars firing machine guns. Can't beat that. I don't remember the actress' name, but the Lois Lane in that first season sure was a &^%^&!
            Hey! Check out the pictures.

I like Phyllis' portrayal of Lois...Noel Neill's was more of a clown, especially when paired with Jimmy, whereas Phyllis was the no-nonsense reporter.
Think OUTSIDE the Box! For the BEST in Repro & Custom Packaging!

That had alot to do with the sponser Kellogs. After Phyllis left the show to do other work. Kellogs kept telling the producers to tone down the show. The second season still was great but it was not as Hardcore as the first. Noel was still great but Phyllis was a more hardcore and tougher and had the best scream.
