Could the Russo Brothers save The FANTASTIC FOUR?

The Russo Brothers just signed a deal with 20th Century FOX and are working on an undisclosed "project" for them...could it be The Fantastic Four? The Russo's gave us(IMO)two of THE BEST Superhero movies EVER! Captain America:The Winter Soldier & Civil War. If anybody could breath life into the FF...It's THEM!

Doubt it, they are wanting creative autonomy, that's something directors don't get with these big superhero movies. I think you will see more original stuff from them rather than more cookie cutter superhero movies. At this point the FF is box office poison and needs to either rest for a while or be farmed back to Disney.

FF could certainly use a good rest from the box office. While the first two were not MCU quality, to me, they are still more watchable (and relatable as the characters I grew up with) than the wretched pile of drek that 20thCF pawned off on viewers back in 2015.

Give the franchise a good, long period of dormancy (say five or more years), then let Disney/MARVEL buy back the rights to Marvel's first superhero team. Then, set it in the 60s with the FF and Doom coming into current MCU continuity via Doom's time platform.

Get The Duffer Brothers to write and direct the whole shebang and I could almost guarantee a decent and faithful, as well as money making, FF movie.
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

I love the FF, I think it deserves better. That said, I liked the first film.

I've long thought that the best way to introduce the FF into the MCU would be with an intro period film, set in the early 70s. Reed as the most brilliant man alive, a polymath futurist. The gang takes his exploratory rocket, is beset by cosmic rays, and winds up via a warp in the Negative zone, where they battle Annihilus (I dig him lol) and his henchman Blastaar.

Using a defeated Annihilus' tech, they return home to discover that it is 40 years later.

Sequel: Reed is rich as Croesus from his many patents and sets up a foundation in the Baxter Building. Stark (RDJ annoys me) is a pauper and a dunce in comparison. They fun afoul of Victor von Doom, a dark figure from Reed's past, full of enmity and ambition. I'm not sure how Doom fits into my proposed time-line.
WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.

Been in love with the Russo bros since their important roles in the crew of my beloved Community, so, even without their bang-up treatment of Our Man Cap I'd be keeping my eyes on this potential project. Much as this property has been abused in the past decade plus, I'm pretty intrigued by the Hawley project, too.

Beautiful take on the potential films, PNGwynne! So simple and perfect that it will never, ever come to pass that way. Silly world we've got, huh?

Thank you. And yes, silly indeed. Some great (Cap, WW, Ant-Man, Dr. Strange), some horrific (The Spirit, Superman). I'm anxious (in several ways) to see how my favorites Capt. Marvel and Aquaman fare.

I think Aquaman might be a surprise hit based off what's been seen of him so far. He might be the breakout character of JL just like WW was from BVS

                  ^ That's a lovely figure! Type S?

T-bolt, I hope you're right. I'm not totally against Momoa, but I think the writing/characterization is important. I'd expect a cinematic costume, but both I've seen seem overdone--Like much of the rest of the costumes.

Sorry, but the silver age costume just isn't going to fly with people today.

well, that's better and he actually has a trident and not a 5-Dent. Still a bit off from the traditional. Its more Jesus as Aquaman. Hope he doesn't end up with a hook hand.

The trick is to pay homage to it, like they did in WW whilst acknowledging the influence of Darwyn Cooke's New Frontier.

I think the current Superman suit is horrible.

I do kinda dig that version of his chainmail. It maintains some integrity of the classic Aquaman outfit while updating it to keep it from appearing too ridiculous onscreen.

Regarding Superman's current duds; even those would look better if they gave him back his red tighties to break up the blue.
