So 20 years of the IRS 'forgot me so I can do whatever' and now I'll just beg online? Oh, and while I'm begging, please enjoy my political rants. Sorry if you don't agree, but give me money anyway.
And folks happily giving cash to this guy? Really? There's one person on there who says she's about to lose her house but gave money because of all the enjoyment his comics brought her? Good luck keeping warm in that box with X-Factors wrapped around your frozen feet!
Sorry, but like Brian said, I've happily donated to comic pros on tough times ( Mantlo being one). But this...no. Write a book. Sell a tax sale special edition ( worked for Willie Nelson!). Do something to help yourself out.
Jesus, gofundme. God Bless us all.

I work hard for what I earn. I see a lot of small time folk doing this. I own a small LLC and don't get to order inventory as often as I'd like. Sure, I could get on one of these sites and beg for money, but how does that make me look as a business owner? That I lack the business sense to create revenue for what I need? I'd rather figure out how to come up with the money myself instead of beg for free handouts. I may have a low self esteem, but not THAT low
Maybe the joke is on me in that I work 8 days a week to earn every dollar I get.
Pan-handling technically is a job, right?

even the way he writes his initial request for help is rather condescending. then adding in his political rants?? what is wrong with this guy?

did they stop publishing Star Trek books? is that why he can't get work anymore?

              Mr. Marion-

LOL, I just wanted to make it easier for people to know that is essentially what I do. ^^
I own a business selling customizing supplies but I am also a comic fan (ie, NOT a poser and I do own several Peter David comics) & love doing customs myself.
I joined almost a year ago, but I have only been active in the museum for about a month so people who aren't on the FB forums may not know me.
So instead of someone trying to remember "What was the name of that chick that re-roots?" I try to make it blatantly obvious and easy for people to find me.
              I mean no offense.

Lol He's no Stan Lee. I respect his talent to a certain extent, but he also followed some great Aquaman miniseries with a crap '90s revision--so those cancel each other out IMO.

I think he's been naïve and irresponsible and his fans--who've already bought his product--shouldn't have to bail him out. The whole thing's tasteless. If it were a medical emergency, I'd feel quite differently.
WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.

You can KINDA get away with poor grown up decisions/ being naive when you are like, 20 years old.
Once you've been a "grown up" for a little bit we all learn we gotta bail ourselves out of mistakes we make. Last time I checked that is how the world works.
But if it was Stan Lee, I would probably donate a few bucks.

If the third season of Young Justice ever gets off the ground,he'd have money coming from that.

Apparently George Takei, J. Michael Straczynski and Wendy & Richard Pini each donated $1000.
                          And George Perez donated $5000.

One thing nobody's mentioned...I'm pretty sure if you accept large amounts of money as a gift you have to actually pay taxes on THAT money too...and I think it's a LOT...like almost half.

Any tax experts around here know for sure?

An attorney apparently commented on that issue, as some people were warning PD that the donations could count as taxable income:

For whatever it's worth -- I am an attorney, and further, just out of curiosity, checked with my CPA. No, unless the payment being provided is a "forgiveness of indebtedness" or is payment in return for services, providing gifts such as these are not taxable income to Mr. David.
