I saw that and was WTH? I could see some plot line where he was at someones mercy and they butchered his hair, but that looks like an Abercrombie ad.

i put it down to too much actor input ,and a director who goes to extraordinary lengths to show everyone how wacky zany and off the wall he is

i dont want to wear the helmet it hurts

dont want to wear the wig it itches

i like hemsworth ,he comes over as a nice bloke
but wont be disappointed when he's gone
,hope they recast with someone who respects the character of thor a bit more ,i mean come on those fake docos ,i like funny but honestly a inanimate object like thor's hammer in a high chair with a napkin and a bowl of food ,pathetic ,tele tubby baby humor,

whats next thor in nappies and sucking his thumb .

shouldnt give them ideas i suppose

It's Marvel Studios guys. There's probably a story reason for this. They haven't let us down yet. If it were WB/DC, I'd be worried.

Isn't he enslaved and forced to fight the Hulk in the new one?

^I think so. He probably got his hair cut to show he was beaten down or something. It will probably grow back when he gets his hammer or something.

Huh. And here I thought that it was simply a bad idea to have long hair on a battlefield. That's the first thing an opponent will go for in close combat. Pulling hair may seem like something out of grade school, but one should never give one's opponent an advantage; like pulling on one's hair!

Besides, isn't it easier to keep clean in those conditions? Just dump a bucket of water over your head, later, rinse, and dry with a towel; then you are good to go!

Besides, Loki still has long hair, and he started out with short hair in the first Thor movie.

As long as it's the same actor, my knee-jerk reaction is that I'm cool with it. He had two movies with the traditional look already.

yeah comedy thor not for me ,but thanks anyway

Director Taika Waititi revealed to EW he has drawn inspiration from films like Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, and 48 HRS, specifically in regard to showing off star Chris Hemsworth's comedic chops.

"He’s so good and underutilized in that department," Waititi says. "He’s legitimately one of the funniest things in this film."
spoilers for the plot ,for those that want them

The hair is a gladiator thing. The problem is the stylists got involved. Its like he got the Roman chop and found some alien style hold.

I was going to post earlier that my biggest problem with Hemsworth is he's done so much parody of Thor outside MCU, its bordering mockery and it killed any high stakes his storylines could have. Its not full Groo, but it easily could be.

But I deleted that cause I had no idea what Thor3 was about. Then I read this.

Director Taika Waititi was inspired by “48 Hrs” and “Withnail and I” for much of the film which aims to show off Hemsworth’s comedic abilities: “He’s so good and underutilized in that department. He’s legitimately one of the funniest things in this film.”

Mark Ruffalo confirms we’ll see a different side to Hulk: “He’s much more of a character than the green rage machine you’ve seen in the Avengers movies. He’s got a swagger. He’s like a god.”

The overall aim with the film is to offer something that will not just standalone but reinvent the franchise: “A lot of what we’re doing with the film is, in a way, kind of dismantling and destroying the old idea and rebuilding it in a new way that’s fresh. Everyone’s got a slightly new take on their characters, so in that way, it feels like [this is] the first Thor.”
So a comedy-action version of Gladiator, or a really expensive homage to 80's WWF.

Edit: This "re-inventing the Thor franchise" sounds like Hemsworth is moving to George Kirk while Marvel goes Beta Ray Bill and Lady Thor.

Kinda reminds me of the Batman and Robin movie.

If Hemsworth plans to leave the role anytime soon, it's time to recast and go for an older Thor, played by Vladimir Kulich.

I'll take some humor over the dour, navel-gazing sludge that was BvS. I'm not sure Thor is the best franchise to go "buddy movie", but as others have said, we have two very traditional Thor films already. This sounds more like one of those odd Marvel Team-Up issues where Hulk subbed for Spidey, so I'm cool with that.
