Yes, regarding Penguin--weird. Was this the rights problem? I was speaking of dialogue/voice characterization with Joker and Riddler. They were both good, I though Riddler was closer in tone and cadence to Gorshin than the Joker comparatively. The Riddler's hair was odd, again I wonder about rights since some other cameo foes were also tweaked. So, the visual/animation rights differ from merchandising rights?

I originally thought Penguin was altered due to a DC design guide, but when I look at the alterations...not fat, no smoking...
that's more studio design mandate. Smoking is most certainly verboten.

Non-smoking is a new "given" I suppose: I'm not sure how the character is a role-model. He was definitely designed fatter and more traditionally than Buzz' portrayal.

A very thorough examination of the movie can now be heard over at The Batcave Podcast. It's a really great, enthusiastic discussion of the movies, and points out some of the Easter eggs viewers may have missed.

I thought the voices of the Joker and Riddler were good. Even though the Penguin wasn't spot on, his laugh was good, and personality wise, it was close enough to Burgess not to bother me. What did bother me was the voice of Aunt Harriet. She just didn't sound old enough. I think they should have at least gotten someone who would sound closer to Madge Blake.
