    for those who aren't aware of Gasper Saladino's contributions to comics, there is a fantastic Dial B For Blog series detailing his work.


    Gaspar Saladino (September 1, 1927 August 4, 2016) was an American letterer and logo designer who worked for more than sixty years in the comic book industry, mostly for DC Comics. Eventually Saladino went by one name, Gaspar, which he wrote in his trademark calligraphy. From 1966 to the 1990s h

      Thank you for posting this--in reading it, I discovered the person behind some work that I've recalled and admired. Arkham Asylum's characterized lettering always impressed me. I'm glad Evanier shared so many examples, it triggered a lot of memories and appreciation.

        Gaspar was the man who carried the torch after Ira Schnapp. Between the two of them, they defined the look of DC in a way most of us didn't notice...their designs were that organically good.

            ^That Avengers logo alone should be enough legacy for any artist. It's the same logo they use for the films and all the merchandise, basically.
