Marvel kills off an Original Avenger?

Spoiler!!!!!!!!! Don't read below if you don't want to know who.
I hate comics today! So glad that I was able to really enjoy their bronze age era back in the 70's. Just my opinion.

Isn't he the only one who HASN'T been dead?

Thor's been dead several times. Wasp was dead. Tony Stark was dead, and replaced by his teen self. Not sure if Hank Pym ever died in the regular MU, but I think they killed him in Ultimates.

Cap was dead, although he's not quite original.

It's pandering stunt crap, but he'll be back. Death in comics nowadays is like finding your favorite sugary snack is out of stock at Wal-Mart. They'll be back in stock....eventually.

Fear not, True Believer! Even Saturday Night Live called Marvel out on this decades ago when Kevin Nealon announced Jack Kirby's passing on Weekend Update:

"Some sad news. Jack Kirby, the man responsible for creating superheroes for Marvel Comics, died this week. Funeral services will not be held, however, as they are planning to bring him back in a future issue..."

        Zing!

Hank Pym is currently dead in the 616 MU. Oddly enough, they killed him off in an original Avengers/Ultron OGN that was released around the same time as the Avengers Age of Ultron movie, in the same year he was introduced onto the big screen in Ant-Man.

they just introduced his daughter Nadia (from his first wife), who is the new Wasp and kind of an analogue for the MCU's Hope Van Dyne in the 616.

Marvel loves to give people headaches when trying to figure out how stuff like this plays out with characters like Maestro.

I'm sure someone else will "Hulk-out" while Banner is away for Marvel's great reassignment phase.

Amadeus Cho has already been the "Totally Awesome" Hulk for the last six months. Red Hulk is also running around in a new U.S.Avengers team, this time with an All New All Different Moustache... Marvel finally caved in to Fan-Demand for a moustachioed Rulk since Thunderbolt Ross has a moustache. I am certain the moustache will be getting it's own ongoing series.

I'm surprised to learn they haven't already pulled this stunt with Banner.

I'm fine with whatever they do to sell books. The movies are where it's at now anyway. As long as the Cinematic Universe doesn't let the books dictate their stories too much, and continue to crank out quality, I'm happy.

Well, I guess if none of us here were really reading the Banner Hulk comic anyways.
I tried the Totally Awesome Hulk, loved the Frank Cho art, but kind of lost interest overall and jumped off when Cho stopped drawing.

I think the last time I picked up the title was a couple of years ago when Jason Aaron was writing the book. They were kind of retreading the storyline where Byrne separated Banner from Hulk. I recommend it.

The other storyline I really enjoyed within the past decade starring Banner Hulk was Planet Hulk. written by Totally Awesome Hulk writer Greg Pak. This will supposedly have some influence on the third Thor movie which will co-star the Hulk.

it's a pretty cool storyline where The Illuminati (Iron Man, Reed Richards, Doctor Strange, Namor etc) shoot Hulk off into space where he becomes a gladiator.
