Finally saw Captain America Civil War last night...

As a DC fan...I must say...and with a heavy heart, yes, it was much better than Batman v Superman...way better.

Much better than the Ultron flick too.

Heck, liked it better than the first Avengers movie as well.

Was it the best superhero flick ever? No, it wasn't even the best this year...that goes to Deadpool in my opinion.

But it was good, definitely my second favorite in 2016.

I had the option to see either Civil War or X Men Apocalypse...I chose Civil War, because I wanted to see the new Spidey and Black Panther. I'm not in a hurry to see Jennifer Lawrence and HER X Men. Might wait for the Bluray release for that one.

As much as I enjoyed the movie...it's not without its faults.

    ***THE FOLLOWING WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS!!!***

Some of my esteemed posters said Steve Rogers was right...and Tony Stark was wrong.

Well, this will shock many here, for some of you know I don't particularly like Downey/Stark...and like Evans/Rogers.

But I think Cap/Rogers was DEAD WRONG!

I suppose within the context of the comics, sure...let Cap and the Avengers be free...but in the "real" world, I'm sorry...you just can't act as a freelance police force, do your stuff, have casualties of war...and be allowed to go to the next foreign sovereign nation like that, heck, not even in their country of origin.

The fact of the matter is that you have to answer for your actions, especially when innocent people died, whether it was directly or indirectly...that's irrelevant, people died, you must answer to that.

Also, Rogers was driving me INSANE how blinded he was for his affection towards Barnes/Bucky/WS (or whatever he wanted to call himself, lol). It was almost downright fanatical...and sort of creepy too.

But wait...here's the one that truly made me take Stark's side in all of this.

HIS MOTHER WAS MURDERED BY THE WINTER SOLDIER!!!

I don't care if Barnes was brainwashed, manipulated, forced, tortured, drugged, etc...HE KILLED STARK'S MOTHER!!!

How you expect Stark to react?

We would ALL do the same!

I love Damien (toystoocool) to death, he's my boy...but if Hydra brainwashes and drugs him...kills my mother...I'm sorry...I taking him out...

I don't blame Tony Stark one bit...NOT ONE BIT! THE AVENGERS NEED TO BE REGULATED BY ITS HOST SOVEREIGN NATION...NO IFS OR BUTS ABOUT IT!!! INITIATE SHIELD ONCE AGAIN!!!

This rule must apply to any large superhero group. Don't like it? Then go solo, like Batman, lol. But even he has an alliance with Commissioner Gordon.

I blame Steve Rogers, the blinded vigilante...he's trying to do the right thing, but everything he does in this movie was wrong...dead wrong.

BTW, Captain America did NOT beat Iron Man...CAPTAIN AMERICA AND BUCKY DID...two against one...let's not lose track of this...this was not a mano a mano fight...it was 2 against 1...cheaters, lol.

Okay, let me wrap it up...

Spidey was great, Black Panther was great.

I enjoyed the Vision, Ant Man. The Falcon had quite a big role, good for him, he's a good character.

Both Black Widow and the Scarlett Witch are hot...

Hawkeye and the War Machine were probably my least two favorite Avengers...we could be just fine without them.

Zemo and Crossbones were major disappointments...but this movie was not even about the villains, so who cares, lol...

    Captain America: Civil War...8/10

P.S. I wannabe be the new Peter Parker...so I can live with the new hottie Aunt May...

I really enjoyed Civil War, probably my favorite of the Captain America movies so far, although it's more like Avengers III. Good call on seeing it over X-Men: Apocalypse. While it's not terrible, it's the worst of the new wave of X-Men movies. Definitely a rental.

Hec, you captured the genius of the movie to me.

In the first two acts, Cap seems 100% right. Bucky was not responsible for the attack. Zemo is out there plotting something. The government is hunting down the wrong man, and trying to keep the good guys from doing anything about it. Only the heroes can see things clearly. They are free from politics and agendas and can do what is right, no matter the personal consequences. The third act could have written itself: Zemo unleashes the evil super soliders, epic battle, good guys save the day, and Tony Stark tears up the Accords while saying something snarky. Instead, we get the "Bucky killed Tony's parents" reveal. And suddenly this idea of being impartial goes out the window. Steve wants to defends his friend, even though he knows he has done some terrible things. Tony wants to punish his parents' killer, even though he knows he wasn't in control of his actions. The motivations are understandably human, but neither seem 100% right. They are completely subjective. Or to put it another way: whatever you think should have happened in that bunker, one of these superheroes would have done the wrong thing.

I know some people just view these as popcorn movies-- and yeah, if you want to just unplug and enjoy the action and the comedy, Civil War delivers. But all that is built on top of this actually kind of nuanced philosophical debate, and I don't think either side comes away as a clear winner.
