There are statements being made that it'll be "like Deadpool".I want to deride them, but part of me hates to see WB and DC on the ropes. They've provided me with a lot of entertainment in the 80s and 90s. And yet every move they make seems to either be a horrible miscalculation of what audiences want, or a desperate reaction to what Marvel and Disney are doing.

While it couldn't hurt his bank account, I found interviews regarding his ownership of the character amusing. Apparently, he doesn't make a dime from HQ's merchandising. Now, the question is if they'll bring him on the writing team for this movie---of course, then, Dini's "Net worth/live-action writer cred" will improve that much more.... and, more importantly, to most of us, if he's part of this (inevitable) new Harley movie, it'll bring him in range of the much-in-need-of-aid DCEU.Last edited by huedell; May 17, '16, 2:38 PM."No. No no no no no no. ^That's really interesting. I know for years DC had creator participation in characters that were farmed out to other media or merchandise. Chuck Dixon told me in person that Bane's presence in Batman & Robin bought him a house! Maybe Dini doesn't get this treatment because he created Harley for WB Animation and NOT as a comic character for DC?
I know there have been issues with creators not getting the payments they used to for characters (Gerry Conway came forward and DC corrected it fairly quickly, for instance), but it seems odd that Dini (and I would guess Bruce Timm as well) are getting left out in the cold while Conway gets checks for Killer Croc and Slipknot from Suicide Squad.

That would be my guess. Creating her for the media company (especially for a show they planned to merchandise the snot out of) instead of for the comics, I'd wager his contract isn't as generous as the ones the creators in the comics get when it comes to licensing or appearances in other media.Comment
