...and don't get me wrong, I'm a Scarlett J fan...she's lovely...good actress too...but just not as Motoko...simply because Ghost in the Shell is inherently Japanese...

If they changed the entire thing...moved the story to the States...and have her name changed into something Western, then fine...I'm okay with solely an American adaptation of the original story...but if they stick to the Japanese theme, then no, I'm not for it.

I had the reverse issue with the Space Battleship Yamato movie, the characters appear to be Caucasian (primarily blonde and brunette) in the anime, albeit with Japanese names, that it was initially jarring that everybody was Japanese. I got over it really quickly.
