DC Rebirth...Nah, just more Bats and Supes

They should call it AFTERBIRTH. Here's an on line article. Announced at Wonder-Con:

    http://www.theouthousers.com/index.p...onference.html

Can DC put out some MORE Batman and Superman related CRAP PLEAASSSSEEEE!!! DC basically is what is left of what was once Image. Just look at some of the artists and so called writers on some of those books. This really is pathetic. What I see in this is that DC doesn't give a rats you know what about older readers. This is just pandering to new readers that have the attention span of a gnat. Wouldn't be half as bad if they had decent art...but this is just utter DRECK.

That being said there are 2 books that may get some interest from me...strictly because of a few names that are attached. Super Woman because Phil Jimenez is on it and Wonder Woman because if Nicola Scott. That's it. The other books are basically unrecognizable to me...but then none of these books are geared toward older readers. By Older I mean anyone over the age of 40.
"When not too many people can see we're all the same
And because of all their tears,
Their eyes can't hope to see
    The beauty that surrounds them
    Isn't it a pity".

Didn't see or hear of anything in the rebirth news that makes me want to jump back into reading DC Comics. More nu52 repackaged into new series. Nothing reviving the old universe characters.
    I'm still out.

I think both DC and MARVEL are guilty of basically not giving at rat's arse about the older readers, the people who bought their books and loved the characters and the medium when it wasn't cool to do so; when telling someone you read comics or someone finding out you read comics usually labeled you a weirdo or a freak and some other terms not suitable for a family board. I've read comics from the time I was four (okay, I looked at the pictures, but still loved 'em; started actually reading them when I was six or seven) and I finally stopped about six years ago when the characters and stories I loved became pretty much unrecognizable save for a name. WE, the "older" readers, are the blocks that MARVEL, DC, FIRST, IMAGE, etc., built upon, but our support seems neither recognized or cared about all in the name of heftier bottom lines and promoting the latest "superstar" artist or writer or promoting the next character being prepped for the big screen. Luckily, I have my back issues and my trade paperbacks and my memories and, no matter what dreck the publishers put out, they can't take any of those away...
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

I had a good laugh at theouthousers play by play. Nothing for me in there, though. There are occasional bright spots for me in the DC Universe like the current Legends of Tomorrow book, The Wein Swamp Thing miniseries. Looking forward to the Hannah Barbera properties redo (although I cant see why they can put that much energy and flash into the regular DC characters). I tried a lot of the 52 and there was some really good work in there, but I really do think that the majority of DC comic fans just want more Batman and Superman titles.

Does J'onn J'onnz no longer exist? And if the 'Titans' being together is such a big deal, why is Vic a founding JLA'er? Or where is Raven? Is Stafire still an Outlaw?

Wouldn't Red Hood and the Outsiders make more sense given Batman's Outsider connection? Why is Jason Todd called Red Hood? Wouldn't Deathwing seem somehow more appropriate?

Tim Drake has a new identity? Who will be in charge of burgers at the DC company cookouts?

So, Babs was Oracle, now she can walk, but is investigating who Oracle is? Huh?

That Green Arrow redesign sure resembles Stephen Amel. Purely coincidental, I'm sure.

Oh, thank God! More Green Lanterns from Earth.

Wow! A speedster villain? I bet he's way better than Professor Zoom, Zoom, Savitar, or Cobalt Blue. Who wants to bet 'Godspeed' is Wally West?

Awesome! The Joker's name. I bet this won't be incredibly stupid AT ALL!

That Supergirl costume sure does resemble Melissa Benoist's. Purely coincidental, I'm sure.

How does Didio still have a job?

I've asked myself that question for a while now...but I still don't understand it. It really is a sad state for DC. I've mentioned in a few posts...Marvel is at least trying. DC basically throwing stuff at a wall and seeing if it sticks. What i find really funny is them trying to make two separate worlds when it comes to the TV and Movie world...but want to keep continuity in one universe in the comic book world. Figure that one out.

So, did the post-Infinite Crisis Superman completely replace the New 52 version? If that's the case, that's not a bad thing. Confusing, but not bad.

Have you seen that image where all the major characters are reaching for some mysterious hand? I'm hoping it belongs to either Jeanette Kahn or Paul Levitz. lol

A small step in the right direction, at least as far as some of the costumes hearkening back to their more classic iterations.

I loathe Dan Didio. I mean that sincerely.

But, I stuck with New52 Aquaman and I'm glad I did. It was a solid book. And: In the reboot, Arthur is back in a nearly classic costume. Yipee!

I doubt Captain Marvel will fare as well *sob*.

DiDo's a television guy and I think that's because his parents were TV industry people, IIRC. He entered DC when having film/tv resume was trending again.

This company is such a mess. I wish they would have sold half to Legendary, before they partnered with that Chinese conglomerate. Lord only knows who would actually own the rights after that.
