Batman v Superman Discussion: Possible Spoilers

Just got back from the movie. I don't want to ruin it for anyone else, but I pretty much hated it. My expectations after Man of Steel were low already, but then knowing that they shoehorned Batman in there, I figured it wouldn't be good. It wasn't. Tone is just completely off. I can't remember who said it about Man of Steel (was it Bryan?), but it was entirely too dour, and this was like triple dour. Utterly joyless, utterly soulless, no fun, no humanity at all. I came very close to walking out several times just because the movie was way too long and there were so many small irritations.

The executive team at Warners movie division has no clue how to deal with their characters and it shows. "Batman was a success. Make it like Batman!" "Joker's a great villain! Let's make Lex Luthor more like the Joker!"

I think I'm done with the DC movies unless they reboot (again). I'll have to be happy with the Supergirl TV series and leave it at that. At least that's fun.

After reading several reviews about the film and the Wiki Batman vs Superman and even I have got to admit, this is going to hit WB hard in the wallet. We may not get to see that complete list of movies if this is any reaction. Again WB squeezes in at least 3 major comic book stories into one movie and WAY to many characters (again). I am at a lost on this movie.

From the sounds of it, it's going to be a pretty big financial success unless something happens in the next couple weeks.

As much as I enjoy Daredevil the TV series, I'm at the point where I wish I had a time machine so I could prevent Frank Miller's parents from meeting.

It will do big numbers this weekend with the release date staggering across two spring breaks. But the dropoff is going to be huge in the second week and that's where the real trouble lies.

About half way through my oldest turns to me and says "Dad why don't these guys act like heroes?"

I think he nailed it. I thought Batman, Alfred, and Wonder Woman were good to great. The rest of the movie was a miss for me.
